We have a UCJV300-107 coming some time next week, hope to start hacking that thing as well pretty quickly. I think I have a good chunk of Mimaki's firmware structure figured out, seems to be pretty modular to allow it to be adapted across all sorts of printer models.

The UJF series filters are the M022219 (formerly M018307), but there are plenty of generic ones. Thankfully the little clip fittings are cheap, just the gaskets are murder.

So much for that idea, almost feels like an oversight. Ink can get chunky, even if it's not expired.

Don't have a service manual on these guys yet, but if it has ink filters like the UJF MKII series, check to see if those are swelling up. As far as I can tell, most bottle fed UV printers have a similar setup on the current generations, so worth checking as well. Also, if anyone has a service...

Rats, the permanent chip has had it's chip details scrubbed off. Can still see the sandpaper marks. As for the regular ink chip, it looks like a knockoff chip, but no surprise there.

Oh, permanent chips are a pain. They technically self-reset and all, but the date can only be so far in the future before the printer rejects them. If you can post a nice clean close-up pic of the chip, I can probably ID the programming header. However, it gets pretty technical if you want to...

There's a lot of different aftermarket chips kicking around, do the chips have a DS2431 ot DS2430 stamped in the chip itself?

Overall, asides from some annoying stuff with the firmwares, the printers are more serviceable than the MKII series by a long shot. Service manuals are easy to come by, but the translation in Mimaki manuals, especially the service ones, leave a ton to be desired.

Will be around, just finishing up some other work at the moment. Might have some hacked firmwares for the UJF MKII stuff, completely bypasses the chip system in the first place.

If going off the stink factor, modern UV inks seem to be way less stanky in my opinion. The cleaning solvents as well. Weird reason to bias an answer, sure, but still a factor in my book. =P

Working on a github page, so we can have a public repository there. Gotten a lot of pushback from 2 chip resetter vendors based in Europe (won't say who) about the thread, wonder if they've reported the threads.

No luck recovering a head, dang electrical failure in the unit. Thankfully the slider board is ok. On the down side, no used heads or cheap donor printers for sale. The search for junkers continues.
