  1. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

We have a UCJV300-107 coming some time next week, hope to start hacking that thing as well pretty quickly. I think I have a good chunk of Mimaki's firmware structure figured out, seems to be pretty modular to allow it to be adapted across all sorts of printer models.
  2. Air Purge Issue on UCJV300

It can be tedious, I tended to tweak the knob a 16th of a turn at a time once I was close. Turn, wait 3 seconds, turn, etc.
  3. Air Purge Issue on UCJV300

From the service manual: Readjustment of the throttle valve With the menus [#TEST] - [Air Pressure Check] - [Positive Pressure (Check)], adjust the throttle valve so that the pressure becomes 17.5kPa Good chance your throttle valve has crept a bit, will need to loosen the locking ring and...
  4. Mimaki UCJV300-160 supply ink error.. HELP

Subtank filters are glorified screens, so building up the stuff I need for proper filters. Just landed the UCJV300-107 that was on eBay as a new project and soon to be production printer. Excited and nervous at the same time, but at least it has Gen5 heads instead of the Toshiba Tec heads like...
  5. Mimaki UCJV300-160 supply ink error.. HELP

The UJF series filters are the M022219 (formerly M018307), but there are plenty of generic ones. Thankfully the little clip fittings are cheap, just the gaskets are murder.
  6. Mimaki UCJV300-160 supply ink error.. HELP

So much for that idea, almost feels like an oversight. Ink can get chunky, even if it's not expired.
  7. Mimaki UCJV300-160 supply ink error.. HELP

Don't have a service manual on these guys yet, but if it has ink filters like the UJF MKII series, check to see if those are swelling up. As far as I can tell, most bottle fed UV printers have a similar setup on the current generations, so worth checking as well. Also, if anyone has a service...
  8. 3rd Party Ink Chips Problem

Rats, the permanent chip has had it's chip details scrubbed off. Can still see the sandpaper marks. As for the regular ink chip, it looks like a knockoff chip, but no surprise there.
  9. 3rd Party Ink Chips Problem

Oh, permanent chips are a pain. They technically self-reset and all, but the date can only be so far in the future before the printer rejects them. If you can post a nice clean close-up pic of the chip, I can probably ID the programming header. However, it gets pretty technical if you want to...
  10. 3rd Party Ink Chips Problem

There's a lot of different aftermarket chips kicking around, do the chips have a DS2431 ot DS2430 stamped in the chip itself?
  11. Know any good Mimaki Techs that work remotely?

Overall, asides from some annoying stuff with the firmwares, the printers are more serviceable than the MKII series by a long shot. Service manuals are easy to come by, but the translation in Mimaki manuals, especially the service ones, leave a ton to be desired.
  12. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

Will be around, just finishing up some other work at the moment. Might have some hacked firmwares for the UJF MKII stuff, completely bypasses the chip system in the first place.
  13. UV or Solvent?

If going off the stink factor, modern UV inks seem to be way less stanky in my opinion. The cleaning solvents as well. Weird reason to bias an answer, sure, but still a factor in my book. =P
  14. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

Working on a github page, so we can have a public repository there. Gotten a lot of pushback from 2 chip resetter vendors based in Europe (won't say who) about the thread, wonder if they've reported the threads.
  15. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

Not sure what is up, tried to contact an admin and have yet to hear back.
  16. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

Got a few messages regarding the ink chip hacking thread, seems it's delisted or something. https://www.signs101.com/threads/hacking-mimaki-ds2430-ds2431-1-wire-ink-chips-for-fun-profit.171476/ Not sure what's up, and seen no messages from admins about it. Weirdness. Archived everything though.
  17. Wanted Looking for Mimaki Clogged/Bad UJF6042/3042 MK1/MK2 Printheads

Still chasing heads, also looking for some Gen5's as well to experiment with as well.
  18. UJF-6042 MKII & MK1 Projects & Rebuild, Hacking, Etc.

No luck recovering a head, dang electrical failure in the unit. Thankfully the slider board is ok. On the down side, no used heads or cheap donor printers for sale. The search for junkers continues.
  19. Positive pressure pump does not work - Mimaki SWJ320EA

I know with some Mimaki printers there is an adjustment mode that lets you set the throttle valve for the pressurization system. Usually if the pressure is out, there is an error message. That said, it might be slightly off and worth checking if it is an accessible reading. With a printer as...
