  1. Starting out!

I'm not only doing sign making, but also plan to do vehicle graphics... I already have autocad, and I love the software, so why shouldn't I atleast ASK about it's functionality with vinyl plotters? Is there really any harm in that? I was given advice about red on black... I repost a rough...
  2. Starting out!

Thank you petepaz. Anyway, I was thinking... For those of you who are artistic, do you sometimes have conflict between what you feel looks good artistically and what really "pops" and is plain? I'm worried I will have a tendency to go overboard, but I also know that more often than not...

Is this attention grabbing? *Not the font, the color combo...
  4. Starting out!

Oh I don't take offense to any critique regarding suggestions just as long as its atleast done constructively. Saying "that's crap" without giving any reason why is just wrong IMO. I don't care if people call it "crap" just tell me why. lol. And yes, Rick was correct in pointing out that lime...

Why are you opposed to the red BTW? Red letters/designs on matte black is one of my favorite color layouts! For example: That gets your attention everytime!

Well, that's not my main desire to have a 30 machine. I was thinking along the lines of being able be more versitle printing width wise with my vinyl as opposed to length. To me this makes more sense, as I wouldn't be wasting as much vinyl. Inputs welcome.

Thanks everyone! Rick & T.S.E.: That is valuable! I have one more question right now. Do you all see a benefit of buying a 30" cutter over a 24" cutter? I figured it would be a little more versatile to have a 30" and in the long run I would save more money. PS, the "X" in...
  8. cad-type welding?

Hey Bogie, I like you am familar with autocad, and the coorelation between it and corell gives me fits too. Anyway, my question is: "why can't autocad be used?" I assume you are making a vinyl graphic? What is so hard about incorporating autocad dwg. files to plotters? I mean before there...
  9. Starting out!

Well, the reason I like autocad is because of the things I can do with it like polar arrays. I have used Corel some, and it wouldn't be that hard to become an expert with (atleast I don't think!). My idea is to use Autocad to draw some of the intricate detals, and then open up the ".dwg" files...

Thanks! BTW, I used to have an ESP JH2! Stupid for getting rid of it!
  11. Starting out!

Hello all! My name is Jeremy. I am 29 years old and I live in East Tennessee. I am about to take the plunge and open my own sign making shop. All my life I have been artistic and articulate to details. I have a pretty good idea of what looks good grapically. I have expeirience with autocad...
