  3. Problems with 2 New XR-640 Printers

Sounds like you didn't do any research before buying your machines, all of these issues are well known with ECO sol white ink. It's obvious that UV ink works one way, and ECO sol works another way. Did you get samples from roland first? Clearly you didn't ask any questions before buying this...
  4. White Base Print under Image Area?

Until you have a gradient from color to transparent, and it looks terrible when you have a solid block of white behind it.
  5. Having Trouble With Roland?

Nice. That isn't a typical story though. Hope the forum of Roland hate works out for you. I think most Roland users know through sign posts, that Rolands are great printers, and not greatly accurate cutters. Buy a standalone cutter.
  6. White Base Print under Image Area?

I'm 99% sure roland will not do this. You have to do the manual building of the white underbase, and then set it to print first in versaworks, etc. etc. This is part of the reason we won't run Roland white ink....that and it's poor opacity for most applications.
  7. Having Trouble With Roland?

So you're basically creating a web forum? Cool idea?
  8. Prints are showing up fuzzy

Please stop giving advice - every bit of advice you gave here is dead wrong.
  9. Prints are showing up fuzzy

It's not a static problem. It rarely, if ever, is. Why would static all of a sudden appear out of no where if he's been printing with the machine in the same place for years? Why would the static effect only ONE black head, just all of a sudden? What happened is, he used the print head...
  10. Prints are showing up fuzzy

The black head or black channel is worn out, change the head, this is the only fix.
  11. another summa issue my maintenance company can't deal with..

Flexi Cloud does bar codes with Summa and links to Summas barcode server software, please check your info before posting so others can have accurate info.
  12. What's wrong with my XC540?

How difficult was it to install the new belt? Need any special tools or just the service manual?
  13. Summa clear vinyl lamination issue?

Buy a laminator. They exist for a reason. Quit using a pvc pipe cut in half with a felt edge on it, this isn't grade school project day, it's called producing a product you're proud of and making a living.
  14. Phototex seam double cut issue.

The biggest issue we see with phototex is how receptive it is to dirt or any kind of oil from your hands, if we touch it, we have to wear rubber gloves or it will ruin the product instantly with finger oils / dirt from your hands you didn't even know existed, even after hand washing it still...
  15. Charging too much?

Yea I remember the days when lawnmowers used to not have motors on them, now that they do, it's really sad what the industry has turned into...you don't even need muscles to mow the grass, back in the day, I used to have the biggest muscles, now I'm just watching my neighbor ride his lawn mower...
  16. Cut misalignment on XR-640

Waste of time. This is not a reasonable solution for real production shops. Machines without issues don't need lame "fixes" like this.
  17. Cut misalignment on XR-640

Yes, the GX640 was WAY OFF at the SGIA show, which tells me, Roland calls this "dead on" in their book. Even when I asked the Roland salesman / guy pitching the machine about it, he made some poor excuse. I laughed and walked away, knowing that the gx640 has the same flaws as their other...
  18. Cut misalignment on XR-640

Dialed in, yes, dialed in over 36" runs? No. Good luck! Everyone has their idea of "dialed in" - our idea is off by less than 1/16" on ALL cuts, all the time, no matter the image size, how many on a sheet, etc. etc. Bet me - a Roland can't do this consistently!
  19. Cut misalignment on XR-640

It won't ever be perfect...sadly. Watch how many excuses they make when your cuts are off by 1/16" or more after the tech leaves. Some of our favorite excuses - "add more bleed to your designs" "Do shorter runs" "Do this crop mark thing where crop marks are printed every 6 inches" What it...
  20. Cut misalignment on XR-640

You won't ever fix this problem, this is a Roland problem. We saw their cutters at SGIA cut this far off too, asked them about it and they balked that we even noticed. You have to cut under 36" or you're going to see some cuts being off more than you want. Welcome to Roland, nice printers...
