  1. Need Help Coroplast issues - seeking tips and tricks

So on my 100 watt I'm doing 20 speed...50 power. TBH, I just did a few tests, saw that one worked with no leftover flutes and kept at it. I might play around and see if I can go faster with less power... but what I have works with no burnt edges or anything on UV printed materials. I have a...
  2. Need Help Coroplast issues - seeking tips and tricks

We just added to the artwork, all you have to do is make two plus signs one in each corner, then you align your laser to those two crosshairs. There are a bunch of good videos about it on youtube. I have a honeycomb bed, so when cutting acrylic and stuff I will sometimes get flashback... But I...
  3. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

The thread went off rails, and I realized the simplest way is to just agree to disagree on some things, so why argue about it on the internet :roflmao: But the whole paying taxes / funding schools when you don't have kids dragged me back... Part of being part of a society is contributing to...
  4. Need Help Coroplast issues - seeking tips and tricks

Throw a sheet of 4x8 aluminum panel, or even light thin gauge aluminum underneath the coro when you're cutting it, the laser won't cut through it and you'll have a clean surface every time you're cutting... No worrying about flame UPS. Hard to say since I haven't seen your laser of course. I...
  5. INK for HP Latex

In the early days latex Ink sucked and didn't last nearly as long as solvent. I think latex ink is harder to reproduce, so we never looked at aftermarket.. no point in saving a few bucks if the ink isn't as good UV wise and ends up fading after a year.. The only aftermarket ink I would consider...
  6. Need Help Coroplast issues - seeking tips and tricks

Does your laser software not support print and cut? I don't have a 4x8... Mines only 24 x 42". I use lightburn, it allows you to put 2 crosshairs on the print anywhere you want... You move your laser to the center of the crosshair, tell it thats position 2, move it to the other crosshair...
  7. Wrapping an elevator interior - need some advice

Huh... We've wrapped quite a few doors and interior elevators using 3m Dinoc. Never got an engineer's approval.... Mainly because we've never known it was needed. I'd never wrap one with regular vinyl... It's not srong enough to handle elevator usage. A thicker interior vinyl like Dinoc or...
  8. 2023 Wrap Up. First Year Doing Sign Printing Business, No Experience, Gross 800K, Net 0, Need Advice!

When I sold on Amazon I found I made 30-40% as well. Even a single sticker - I sold 1 sticker for $9.... Amazon would take $6 and leave me with $3. Doesn't matter if someone buys 1 sticker or 10... They charge the same amount for shipping if it's FBA. If you sell and do your own shipping...
  9. HP 365 & Duratex Mesh Banner - Pulling my Hair out!

I second low heat / less passes. I find duratex tends to lift off of the backer with too much heat. I also find for media like olperf andnmesh banner... The least amount of suction is the best. Too much suction tends to make it buckle and cause these issues. Have you stood and watched it...
  10. ADA Signage Install

I have to raise my rates.... Wish I was getting $15 per sign on 250+ signs! We just did about 500 acrylic signs for a building. Install was $10 per sign, and I thought even that was high - I made a jig for height / off the wall location and it took maybe 2 mins per sign. At $10 a sign that...
  11. Need Help Coroplast issues - seeking tips and tricks

Why not print on a 4x8 sheet and then cut the coro on your laser? Coro doesnt like heat...and laser cutting might lift it a bit. And if its a flat 4x8... you can tape the edges down, then do the cut if you need to... but I expect printing on a full 4x8 sheet would be fine on your printer...
  12. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

They're good employees when they're working. One in particular is sick at least once every 2 weeks with "headaches" - unfortunately replacing them costs more than keeping them does. We're on a time card system...so they don't get paid when they're not here. We've talked to them about it...
  13. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

I don't know if it's all sports. I know in my kids school, every sport my kids played has been a no goal sport. He's not in highschool yet, so maybe it's just the lower schools that are doing this. By googling it, I see that the youth soccer body (like Fifa) has removed scores from all their...
  14. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

It's always been a thing, it's just More prelevant these days than before. I bet you that 90% of the illiterate adults could learn to read in 6-12 months if they tried / wanted to. A lot of kids are behind because not everyone learns at the same pace, my kid was reading faster than any in his...
  15. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

Competition and rewards push people harder. I have no problem giving 2nd or 3rd or 55th place ribbons .. but that's how it started, now most sports involving kids are "for fun" and they don't even keep track of score. Again in Ontario... But the whole province / soccer league mandated that all...
  16. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

My problem is passing them through a grade when they don't understand the core functions all but guarantees they won't understand the next grades functions. Math for example - my kid struggled in grade 1 math - they passed him and he understood nothing in grade 2. It's a huge catch-up if...
  17. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

Schools have been dumbed down a lot, so I kind of get "part" of what is being said. Everyone is PC - You're not allowed to fail a grade.... You could literally not understand anything, and they'll throw you into the next grade so you learn more stuff you wont be able to understand. They'll give...
  18. Choosing a - HP Latex 630W or Roland TrueVIS VG3-64 eco-solvent?

We have the 700w for white. With overcoat - and yes it can be turned off. Weve also had 3x 560s, 360, and a 110 - all those you couldn't turn overcoat off.... Never had an issue. It's nice that you can turn it off, but we never had an overlam fail without turning it off on our older printers...
  19. Choosing a - HP Latex 630W or Roland TrueVIS VG3-64 eco-solvent?

We run both latex and solvent in our shop for the past 8 years.... Exclusively solvent before we got our latex. The old owners were like you, and afraid latex wasn't as good as solvent - back in the 260 days that may have been true... But 99% of what we print now is on our latex, I've had...
  20. News Save $ on JetBest Ink

Buying directly from China is risky. I buy ALOT from China - the same vendor can send you legit stuff, then knockoff the next shipment. I've had times where I had to throw out $1000 worth of product because it didn't meet the spec. The problem with Chinese goods is their quality control -...
