  1. Refacing polycarbonate lightbox sign - pull permits?

We don't need permits to reface signs in our area. You do however need insurance, and a business license.... Which is dumb. Where we live within 30 miles, you need an operating license in about 7 different zones... All which costs a few hundred a year each. Ive only had a city person pull...
  2. Storage of Vinyl Upright

We used to use the plastic to stand them up. Then Dumbass employee #1 swung a roll into one... and it domino'd about 15 rolls. So then we VHB taped them together, and to the wall... and he did the same thing. :roflmao:
  3. Storage of Vinyl Upright

https://www.yellotools.com/shop/en/storage/?p=1 We built these. We have a long one across our whole wall that's 2 deep.... Holds like 75 rolls. One by the printer that's 3 x 3 and holds 9 rolls.... For when media is done but not ready to laminate because we're printing more media that uses the...
  4. Wall mural on tile - wall of pain?

We did a bathroom with Dinoc - We were surprised that it stuck to the grout, but after a year it still stayed down and looked perfect.
  5. Onyx and HP Internal Print Server

Now I would reinstall your onyx version to a new folder as well, see if that fixes the issue .. it could be something happened during the install. Onyx is glitchy sometimes. Mine will crash everytime my printer sends it new media width ... And I have to reinstall to fix it. Every few months...
  6. Onyx and HP Internal Print Server

You get a 30-day free fully functional trial of onyx. Go to the website and download the trial, when you install it make sure you install it to a different location than your original and it won't over write it. That way you can see if it is Onyx or not
  7. Not sure what is causing this.................................................................. ??

We buy direct from 3m. Funny thing is our 3m rep was puzzled as to why it was so matte.... He was sure it had a protective cover on it, but he tried for 5 mins to peel it off.... On the silver it's on there pretty good. We ended up having to take a knife and shave it off enough so that we...
  8. Not sure what is causing this.................................................................. ??

The protective layer is nice because it prevents scratches from happening when applying. We were using the silver metallic 2080, after using the 1080 version for years.... The 2080 came in super dull and it looked so bad, it wasn't metallic. We had our 3m rep come down and asked him wtf was...
  9. How long have you been on here?

Iurked for a year or two before signing up. I got thrown into the digital department with no training...I learned everything from here pretty much, including learn all you can before asking basic questions or you get the shit kicked out of you. There is a wealth of information on this site...
  10. Workflow suggestions for multiple transfer decals?

Haha... Funny thing is I started proof reading my posts before hitting reply because I fatfinger a lot on my new phone. I read about 80% of it.... Said good enough and hit enter. Stopped right before that one... Fixed now!
  11. Workflow suggestions for multiple transfer decals?

On graphtec I usually do a "print and cut" so it has the registration marks.... Then I cut them out with the registration marks. Weed it... Pre mask it, use the "printed" registration marks to put it back in and perf cut it. I'm sure there's a way to do it on summa as well, but I haven't used...
  12. Can I overlay printed graphics on Matte Wrap Black vinyl

We've done it both ways. But we stick with 3m - matte black wrap with diecut gloss black letters works.... gives a nice subtle look as pelplemdrive by. The back had some printed 180 as well and it didn't fall off. I'd stick to Avery, or 3m for both vinyls, but shouldn't be an issue.
  13. So, my takeout pizza was not ready...

Looks good! Reminds me of when they did the unlimited toppings deal.... I'd get double everything, the pizza came out so thick.... It was great. The toppings were 3x thicker than the pizza.. Now I need pizza for dinner!
  14. What is the best brand of vinyle film adhesive you ever used ?

You're a distributor and you recommend calendared polymeric for vehicle wraps / curved surfaces? I hope it's just a language thing and you don't! For curved surfaces / vehicles, a cast vinyl is always needed. You can get away with a polymeric vinyl for flat vehicle surfaces in some areas, if...
  15. Need Help Any Suggestions on Laminators

We've had our seal for about 12 years. If someone didn't run a knife through it taking out a big chunk it would still be usable.. That said I also have a Royal sovereign, been using it for 6 years and it's still works just as good. We bought the cheaper version with the thin roller... So I...
  16. What is the best brand of vinyle film adhesive you ever used ?

Polymer as in polymer calander for curved surfaces? Good luck.
  17. Surfacing MDF Spoil board issue

Those of you who dont surface MDF.... Do you use a vacuum pump? MDF has a skin on it, and surfacing it breaks the skin and allows it to be more porous. You're "Supposed" to surface both sides and seal the edges for optimal suction... I wish we could get LDF, I've heard great things...
  18. Surfacing MDF Spoil board issue

MDF warps a lot in heat. Ours will look like a banana overnight if someone leaves the heat on. You can most the board and throw something heavy on it and leave it overnight and it'll re-form itself back into being flat. Our vacuum is strong enough to hold it down even when it's warped by a...
  19. Care to share your Epson experience?

Unless you're in a really open area, and even then the Epson is a much stronger smell than the latex. I don't mind the smell, and most people don't, but it is definitely stronger. The epsons are great printers. I went from a latex to an Epson s40 and then back to latex... Although I went with...
  20. Small wrap shop ready to upgrade printer, advice

Epson R50! You can print right at the edge of the media with no crashes. The Epson Resin printer is like running the Solvent epsons - With the benefits of Latex. And only 1 head at $900 to replace... and the head lasts as long as a solvent head (Apparently, I've had my machine for 2 years...
