Why not just subscribe to canva so you can open the problems in their native program? It's not like it's gonna go away
  2. SJEOOW Cable

Even if you could argue for them being luminaires, you still cant pass that cable through a wall AFAIK. You'd have to properly wire to a junction box that is on the other side of the wall (side where sign is mounted) and then hook into that like you do with exterior flood lighting that comes...
  3. SJEOOW Cable

Found this, not sure if it helps with your question. Looks like the run in the wall is romex so you'd think that if going through a wall was up to code, that cable would just run from the TV down to the outlet with no junction boxes to transition...
  4. Threat of Closing this year...

It's only a race to the bottom if you position yourself as a commodity and the cost of entry is not low if you are trying to be a "print shop". It's actually quite the opposite, you have to spend a lot of money in order to make money in that segment. Basic economies of scale. This is why they...
  5. SJEOOW Cable

I'm no electrician but have watched some Youtube. This is portable cable and seems like it would violate the NEC if it's used as the homerun or hardwired. Looks like it can be used to plug a sign into an outlet but the NEC 400.7 specifically states portable signs so that might not even be...

I'd assume it's for more vector capability? It's sad to see affinity get bought out but it wasn't going to go anywhere as it was, just like Inkscape. At least Adobe didn't grab it, they need some competition and so does Corel to a lesser extent.

You gotta watch the questionable ones as they come off the printer, not the laminator Burton. What kind of laminator do you have? I have an old Chinese one and can do a full roll in a few minutes including loading it.
  8. Canva

Or up your price $10 if it's that big of a deal. All these little fees stand out and annoy people. They're also teaching their customers how to make print ready files, good way to cut yourself out of the whole deal.
  9. The next generation of adobe users now work among us

It's always about the short term gain, most companies bonus structure is set up this way. Make all you can now because next year they are going to raise the bar and you might not get anything. It's a silly setup but in todays world, everything is about today and the top brass will milk one and...

For small stuff, I don't. Larger stuff I just build it into the price. I try not to micro analyze every job as there is also a cost associated with under utilized assets that needs to be taken into account. Some jobs are homeruns and some are duds but I have found more success and...

Why waste an hour with back and forth when you could spend 20 minutes doing it for them? There are a ton of things that get on my nerves but this has never really been one of them. Now, if we want to complain about files with 10 million transparencies that crashes when you try to open it or it...

On top of it, it's amazing how much additional functionality/automation can be gained with macros but neither adobe or corel ever bothered integrating any of these things. Canva comes along and does just that and everyone complains. It's like giving up your manual transmission for an...

I've only had a couple and IIRC they just gave an error when importing. Simple fix was print to pdf and import that, wasnt a big deal unless there is more to it that we haven't encountered yet.

Exactly. The old school way was a hand sketch that you had to do yourself. Now the customer is doing that for you, I'll take that all day long over a blank slate.

I don't get all this hate for people that want to do business with you. Even getting a logo that isn't in vector, you're a professional? What's it take, 5-10 mins to trace it? It's like some of y'all dont even want to work. The customer sends you a file to use that gets you started and even...

Canva is being used by a lot more than amateurs. There are quite a few professionals in the marketing and advertising world that use it and claim that it is a huge time saver. As the old adage goes, don't knock it til you try it. You might look back in 10 years and think about how clunky it...
  17. Poblocki Sign Company Shut Down?

Private equity groups are nothing but grifters. I'm watching one fall apart right now. It was a smaller company but the guy let one in the door because he wanted to grow . You could literally see it unfolding over a few years and last year the asset shifting started to happen. Now it's dire...

  19. Threat of Closing this year...

Not saying google ads don't work but from my experience, they'll take every dollar you allow and get nothing in return. They seem to manipulate the keyword pricing and are not transparent about their algorithms. It always felt like I was competing against myself and gave it up. Just my 2 cents

Sounds like the trees are shaking out the people that spent money they didn't have in order to keep up with a volume of business that wasn't gonna last. Never saw that happen before
