  1. Complacency in Business?

Overall a fair book. There were some really good articles, but a couple were a little on the edge. I've read better, and I've read worse. I tried to do some followup with the author, but it looks as though the business is now defunct. JB
  2. Help Getting Started ?

Greetings, I'm just down the road in Hillsdale, MI. As you begin your venture, don't neglect the importance of learning solid business skills. I was in business over five years before it dawned on me that I need to be learning more than just the "hand's-on" part. Sooner or later...
  3. S. Truett Cathy

Here's the link for the family website, http://www.cathyfamily.com/ Here's Truett's own link: http://www.truettcathy.com/ When compared to other business books, Truett's books are noticeably shorter, and smaller in overall size. Yet he gets right down to the point of true success without...
  4. S. Truett Cathy

Well, I've just about completed my collection of S. Truett Cathy's books. He's the founder of Chik-fil-A. Four of my books are autographed, and I'd be interested to find an autographed copy of "Wealth, Is it Worth It?". There's also another book that he co-authored with Ken Blanchard...

    Wow, I'm speechless. JB

  8. Old School Country Music Fans - Do you remember this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCGyAgunqH4 I was just graduating high school when this came out, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Feel free to post your favorite (Country) blast from the past. JB
  9. As of today I am no longer a corporate employee and would like to share my experience

:goodpost:I've been "preaching" this message to all my fellow co-workers for the past fifteen years. JB
  10. As of today I am no longer a corporate employee and would like to share my experience

Wow, sorry for your frustration at the moment. Been there, done that. And while it's still a bitter pill to swallow, they might have done you a favor. You're obviously worth more than they were paying you. Always remember to remain true to yourself. You're the only one who has to look...
  11. help needed to convert once to inches

Shame, shame, shame....but I agree...have the customer bring in their can.
  12. Anyone doing bumper decals for car dealer lots?

The process is called thermal kiss cutting. JB
  13. Photoshop and illustrator?

PS has special editing tools that Illy does not, and vice versa. That's why Adobe sells a myriad of products...each one has a special application. It's like a mechanic thinking he/she only needs an adjustable wrench instead of an assortment tools. Sooner or later, you'll understand the...
  14. Squeegee Questions

I have 30 years experience in tool and die work (plastic molds) and manufacturing, and from my vantage point I think re-designing the squeegee might be a little bit like trying to re-engineer a wooden pencil....or perhaps even toilet paper. We've seen variations in themes for each of these...
  15. Newbie wide format printer vs Famous Artist Illustrator, printer, graphic designer

Forget about the media for a moment. I think you need to have a written partnership agreement before you go any further. JB
  16. Blaster Cabinet: does anyone use these?

Joe, Very nice web site, and outstanding craftsmanship! JB
  17. Blaster Cabinet: does anyone use these?

White "industrial sand" is pure silica and is bad to use in an indoor cabinet....and besides, it will be too coarse for fine etching. Outdoors, with a good respirator or with a safe air system, it's ok to use. You can purchase Aluminum oxide at farm supply stores or industrial suppliers...
  18. Blaster Cabinet: does anyone use these?

It's an addiction and, when done correctly, can be a profitable one. I always marvel at what can be accomplished with such a relatively simple piece of equipment JB
  19. Blaster Cabinet: does anyone use these?

I think you'll do better if you set out to build your own market demand for your work. I've purposed to stay away from etsy and ebay due to the "commodity factor"...just like we talk about here with the signs. You might be surprised just how well your local markets will respond, but it does...
  20. Blaster Cabinet: does anyone use these?

Cool...the dollar stores also contain a trove of etchable goodies and at great price. Don't forget your local Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift stores...they're also rife with inexpensive things for practicing. Lowes, Menards and Home Depot also carry ceramic and granite tiles that also...
