I am just curious... if you are professional, know your product inside and out, and a full service sign company... why in goodness... "The only issue i have is i don't do installations. I can make many flat paneled signs but i don't do any installation work. I really would like to get some...

  3. Hi Everyone!

Like Stacey, I think Larry deserves the benefit of doubt and the benefit of our all encompassing knowledge and experience. Unlike some others, he has in no way been rude, snooty, vicious, or vindictive toward individual posts. In fact the harshest he has posted was "Look, I'm not here to...

"I too would be interested in doing my own powder coating. I had a guy do some a couple of years back and he ended up screwing me good. I have plenty of room. What do I need for a setup? I don't want to run it as a business, just for my own personal stuff." +1 I have a local powder coater...
  6. What happened here???

Vinyl... ANY vinyl be it reflective or not has three "set" times. 1) Tack time - the time to adhere and allow removal of application tape 2) Dry - time - the time that it takes for gravity and pressure to take affect and allow most fluids to make it's way out to normal air pressure (...
  7. mobile advertising board

You need it to last - you do not want your client wasting their money. Longevity is the secret, particularly as several employees may be using it over time. You do not want it to bend - 5 ft is quite a length, and you do not want the "twirler" bending in high wind, or worst - should it get...

  12. New Guy who enjoys and respects the art of sign making

Welcome Tom Before the posts go mostly against you, I think your post is a little ambiguous as to where you want to END UP in the sign trade. What area of the sign trade - hand painted, digital, vinyl, dimensional? If you clarify you may have a few go "easier" on you. What design...

  15. Need help with application!

Easy: Lightly spray the glass with application fluid. Turn graphic over backing paper toward you and place on glass. The wet glass will help keep the image "stuck to it", while you peel the backing paper off slowly... downward. Remove all backing paper and spray vinyl - glue side. Peel off...
  16. Hi from NC

That book is a GOLDMINE !!!!!!!!!!! Read it then read it again and when you have read it a dozen times... read it again. You will be surprised at how much it will aid you in doing what you will possibly want to do in the future. The basis of everything in signs is good design...
  17. Save your scrap

Here's two tips for the "newbies" of which we all were at some point in time. Tip 1: It might be "better" to structure the post as a question rather than "this is what I am telling you, and also... make it personal. Example: "When I use for example a 24" roll of vinyl and cut out...
