Interesting articles, but I find this guy a little "consultant-y" I found this quote telling:
In other words we hope this will work - buy my books.
The other article contained this gem
People tend to list their most important reason for purchase first, in this case he writes an entire article...
Everything is running at once: all the large and small printers, the DVD replicators, the bindery and both laminators are in use. I dunno, it's just.....:cool1:
That only applies to bars or other public gathering places. Smaller that 55", and less than 4 screens is within the scope of your broadcast/cable agreement allowance. If you go over you have buy a "performance license" which is based on the square footage and capacity of your establishment...
Yeah it does, thanks we already have a Roland XC-540, I'm looking at the Summa to do some jobs that are outside the Roland's range (i.e. white, white floods & spot colors).
We're thinking about adding a DCsx to our line up. I'm familiar with thermal transfer printing, but I wanted to ask the Smuma owners; are these printers only good for line art or will they do dithered bitmaps (photos) as well?
Thanks.
I just read through this (thanks for pointing me to it). Has anyone ever used this? It seems from the documentation that it's only for jobs where you print and cut in one pass. If you set this up and ask for alignment marks does it print one set of alignment marks for each row(page)?
I've used a hack saw with a fine tooth blade a couple times in the (distant)past. I made sure the roll was wound tight then compression taped the roll where I was cutting it and went slow. Took a while, but other then having to discard the outer layer it cut reasonably smooth.
Virgin Mobile has them. It's $20 for 250mb (you can get more or less ) of downloads and it expires in 30 days if you don't use it all. No contract or monthly, you just load it when you need it. I keep one in my laptop bag for travel and emergencies. Most hotels want $10 or more per day to use...
Wow, around here 2700 sq ft goes for around $3700/month. there is tons of empty commercial space in the area and no, they won't negotiate. It's amazing, they'd rather let it sit empty.
I'm curious. How long of a strip do you run for doing print and cut when you have to laminate (i.e. stickers) before you start to see any cut deflection?
On my XC-540 I don't like to go over 60" in length if I'm gang printing stickers. I've done stuff like trade show headers that were 144" but...
Fun Vistaprint story.
Woman came in wanting 15 18x27 coroplast signs. I gave her a price and got the "deer in headlights" look and the "but I can get them from Vistaprint for $xx.xx" Ooookay, "Can't you match them?". I asked her what the art looked like and she gave me a flyer. "We want this...
Is this a 100' or 150' roll?
New 150' rolls are larger than the end cap spools and impart a lot more friction on the media rollers. I have to make sure that I release the roll brake and pull material off to create a slack loop in order to get it to feed without cockling until I've used up...
Old age and senility seems to be setting in at a rapid pace. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the "Got Milk?" font.
Little help?
please?
I do 3mm dibond with regular #2 grommets. I pre drill the hole, set the grommet with a hand press then "set" it again with a 2 lb hammer and a hand die.
