  1. Help with Production Manager Ripping

Gradients can throw a lot of programs for a loop. Flexi's gradients don't usually bother it, but a flexi pattern fill will straight up crash it every time. The usual fix to gradient issues (whether it's a gradient that prevents a PDF from importing, or prevents you from printing to PDF, or...
  2. How to set roller pressure

yours is for sure fancier than ours... maybe someone with that model will be able to comment. I find that everything you might find in vinyl, from a dent to a slight crease to a bubble... goes away the instant the backing is removed and it's hard-squeegeed onto a surface. Can you confirm that...
  3. What AntiVirus Software Do You Use ? ? ?

+1 It's also [this is key] inobtrusive. It isn't jumping up and down and creating giant popups in your systray and spinning around with an animated icon and running 30 things under your task manager. Someone mentioned avast.. I found avast to be a little more distracting and I didn't like the...
  4. I have the code to get in my service mode

holy crap I entered it and my roland got 30 lives!!~~
  5. Amd?

I've been tooling around with computers for a while as a tutor and a tech and I've found no difference in terms of day to day use. Picking one over the other isn't going to give you twice as many blue screens of death and illegal operations or anything. A system's 'stability' is 99.9 percent...
  6. Illustrator - My fonts are disappearing

Bitstream Font Navigator is awesome, but difficult to find (hint: legally). It was apparently only packaged with some corel stuff. You can make categories and group fonts by a label, preview a selected batch, and see which fonts are installed vs just sitting on the hard drive. Great for organizing.
  7. windows problem

The computer shop should have known this was going to happen, no excuse for it. Windows XP method for preventing piracy is to check your hardware at the time of install and activate based on that check. You are allowed to swap a hard drive or two, and make some other changes, but after too many...
  8. Love

It's a popular topic on font forums, and they decided that clarendon's as close as you can hope for, but the actual letter shapes are custom, not part of a specific font. In particular the artist would shift around the serifs so that the upper letters overlapped the lower ones just so.
  9. How to set roller pressure

    >_< He's asking about roller pressure not cut pressure We have a graphtec FC5100 and as far as I can tell there's no setting to change it, it just works. Maybe at some point in its life someone had to calibrate it. There's definitely no slippage. At worst you may have to worry about a full roll...
  10. Need some help...

Looks a lot like saloon girl, aka woodcut. http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontmesa/saloon-girl/ A good search word for this kind of font is "Tuscan".
  11. Power Supply Problems?

The first suspect is power supply (which I guess you already have figured out). If you aren't scared of a screwdriver, and you're in an office setting with a bunch of similar computers, and can afford the downtime... you can unscrew one of the power supplies from them and replace the one in the...
  12. Problems with my RGB file converting to CMYK

Without knowing onyx ... just a guess... maybe the final rips are always in cmyk because the printer will be working in cmyk. At some point it has to guess what mix of cyan magenta yellow and black inks will best simulate the colors in your file, so it just converts right then and there. Don't...
  13. A little help.....

    Valentino script: http://www.artandsignstudio.com/valentino.html Heartbeat: http://www.artandsignstudio.com/heartbeat.html
  14. Need a font ID

it's an old classic, viner hand, but you maybe didn't notice it with the smoothed out edges.. it usually has jaggies to simulate a dry brush effect, like the font papyrus. http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/itc/viner-hand/viner-hand/ Or maybe you just smoothed it out yourself via photoshop? And...
  15. What font

Try some of the baskervilles on myfonts, or even look up Mrs. Eaves (it's too blurry to rule out mrs. eaves but it'd be very very unlikely, it's a slightly antiqued looking font based on baskerville). Baskerville has the W with no center serif and the s with the serifs in both directions.
  16. Any idea.....

I thought maybe house gothic 23, http://www.houseind.com/index.php?page=showfont&id=15&subpage=g23features But on closer inspection that's not it. Darnit, I was sure too.
  17. pinch roll adjustment rolan sp-540v

You will get an error if the pinch roller is not lined up with the grit roller, usually the printer has marks to show where you are allowed to place the pinch rollers. The error my printer gives is "Pinchroll error: Invalid left (or right) position". Otherwise, I don't know of any other...
  18. Xc-540

Let us know how the mimaki does. That's a pretty nice price. Keep in mind your laminator width before letting that extra width seduce you tho :) I dunno how mimaki compares in quality to roland... but I can't imagine anything looking better than the roland. Also, isn't that mimaki a full solvent...
  19. Mutoh 1024 service manual

Doh! Sorry. I guess that makes sense >_<
  20. Viewing PSD thumbnails in Explorer

I wanted to second ACDSEE as a nice alternate way to get the same effect, it's a kickass image viewer, and a nice way to do instant bmp->jpg conversion without waiting for photosheezey to load.
