Thanks for tutorial,
I did a google search on the subject and found a few sites that explained the best intents to use for the various print formats. I have a fair grasp of the whole thing now.

I believe the original jpg was created using xara. the rip & print software I was using to print it was Flexi-8 Production Manager.
I originally sent it as a straight jpg, as that is what the customer sent me. The final printed version was a .tif that I exported from photoshop after altering...

Hello Folks,
I loaded the 150 DPI Version into the production manager - cropped out the area i was having problems with and sent to the printer, this copy still had a small bit of tiling, but it was nothing like it was in the low-res version:
I proceeded by loading the image into...
Thanks everyone for the suggestions - I had my friend re-send the file at 150 dpi. I will work with the new file and report back.
And Should I be using "perceptual" as my rendering intent for photos/images? I don't want Awful looking printouts. Is there a resource outlining the proper...
Hello Folks,
I am getting "blocky" / "Tiled" looking areas in a banner printout. The effect appears to be a function of the way the rip is rendering the jpg. I cropped out the section and tried just sending that to the printer and got the exact same blocky print output in the higlights on the...
Couple questions:
- I'm sure you've tried - but both the computer has been rebooted and the printer power cycled?
- how is the printer connected to the computer? Parallel Direct cable? LAN, Print server? - check all of the connections on both ends of the cabling.
- Assuming there are no...
I had that problem on my CJ-500 after messing with the carriage board.. I thought I had caused a major issue when working on it, however all that needed to be done was Limit Initialization and all was well:
follow the procedures outlined in...
Hello Folks,
While attempting to calibrate and adjust the Crop Mark sensor on my newfangled SC500, I found that the small variable resistor on the Cutter Carriage
board was damaged.. In fact it had fallen apart and the wiper (the small inner part that you adjust with a tweaker tool) was...
Hello All,
My newest sc-500 question is: does anyone have the proper part# or link to the correct vinyl cutting blades to use with the cj/sc-500 - The blade that is in it appears to be almost perfectly 23mm
Every blade I buy out there (e-bay so far) is too long: (24.5 mm) and simply will not...
Hello folks,
is there a "proper" method for loading smaller width media in the pinch rollers on the cj500?
I have been cutting 12" oracal in my 500, by using the first and second pinch roller on the long grit roller, but it leaves a good 5-6" of the oracal extending out to the left (facing the...
Hello All,
Thanks to everyone for the help - I got it to work perfectly by following Bobs procedure.. I layed out everything on one layer, then simply selected the text & Border(s) and then selected "Arrange-->Convert to outlines", then "Arrange-->Contour--->Make Contour Cut" - then Imported...
I have only a slight fetish with the layers :) Actually I really dont care about them one way or the other. I am relatively new to flexi, and dont have an great understanding of it yet. I created the layers in an attempt to print and cut them separately while maintaining the registration...
Thanks Folks,
The problem with aligning it on the install is that I am sending the business sign to the customer in the mail for him to install.
Thanks for the Ideas though!

Hello Folks,
I am printing and plotting on a hybrid roland sc500
I need a hand on how to lay out and send this job to production manager for printing and cutting.
I am making a business sign for a customer. I want the basic sign border & Lettering simply plot-cut directly out of white...
Thanks for the clarification MadSign I will not attempt to remove the "Vacuum strip". I think I understand you to say that the vacuum fan speed will be contingent on the width of the media that is in the printer. I will investigate this and report back
thanks again everyone!

I am assuming the platten is the actual silver strip with the holes in it that "suck" the media down. I will have a look in the manual on how to remove it and check for dust & debris clogging it.
I am getting my print quality narrowed down fairly well :) I have another quick question on...
