  1. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

Maybe I should recap this with, I was only laughing and having fun with this internal request and not actually asking for direction as this was in the general chit-chat. They are not getting 30mil for this order, I was only stating that I can direct print on magnets just not sure if I can on 30...
  2. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

If you need profiling info, let me know. I use Muscle Mag something something magnetic stock.
  3. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

Yes. I have not tried to print on our 30mil but I have done direct to mag with the HP latex 360. Lin ft. 57k Ltr and 57K Hlf Ltr sized magnets. Weeee. I ain't got time to trim out 114,000 magnets!
  4. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

That's why I was asked on the run time actually. The customer or someone doesn't like the outsourced cost. This is a small part of a massive job that we are trying to procure so this is outside of my hands but I feel they will notice how much the magnet material costs and they will back off.
  5. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

Oh Sorry. I was just laughing at the question. I probably should have added that. I'm mostly laughing because the printer went crazy with smearing issues a month ago. I have been slowly getting things back to normal so normal print times are not there just yet but print times went to about 5x...
  6. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

Help, I have fallen on the floor and cant get up! :p
  7. Best Way to Cut Down 4x8 Sheets of Foam Core?

Having used a knocked off version for just LF paper, SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND DO NOT BUY IT! I would much rather grab one of my Big Blues (name branded weighted ruler for cutting) and run a knife against that over pure freehand/Chinese knock off. Just did a bunch of 72" foamboards...
  8. Best Way to Cut Down 4x8 Sheets of Foam Core?

Necro reply! You may not be able to directly place a magnetic tray on there but you can adhere a magnet to it first. ;) I just use a plastic tote box with it like the people before me did. I will change that one day to the magnetic as that sounds better. Thanks for that! I wish ours was a full...
  9. How to stretch a vinyl

I do not recommend stretching. Its hard to get it to stretch perfectly across and you risk loss of adhesion. I am sure it can be done, but I'd rather reprint than to remove and install again.
  10. UPS vs. FedEx?

Before being from Atlanta, I preferred FedEx over anyone. Now that I have moved. Every driver in my city sucks! And no it's not a pandemic problem here, it's the fact this city just sucks. :-)
  11. dry erase board

Lamination works great in a pinch but there are other overlays you can purchase for it which may or may not work better, just make sure cold mount for glossy substrates, IIRC. We outsource for it but we have a roll laminator on-site.
  12. Canvas framing what type is this?

We buy from stretcherbarwarehouse.com. There is probably better quality elsewhere. I occasionally feel the need to throw a bar or two away some days.
  13. Best Way to Cut Down 4x8 Sheets of Foam Core?

Amazing edge cuts if you pay attention to the blade. Probably 100 cuts a side per blade so about 200 cuts a blade. Tall edge is close to 65" but don't quote me.
  14. Best Way to Cut Down 4x8 Sheets of Foam Core?

Late to the game, we have Two KeenCut Excalibur 1000s. Works well once you get them calibrated out. Can also do glass.
  15. New Shrink Wrap Setup

Jealous! If you want a hot pocket machine get one with a heat tunnel. I miss my auto shrink wrapper with heat tunnel when I was printing manuals out back in the day. Now I wrap things by hand.
  16. Need Help Applying Heat to Glass

The next elevator job I do is getting one insane quote if they need removal. Took 4 days for swapping out vinyl wrap with two people! The vinyl would not remove itself and it left way to much adhesive behind.
  17. HP 831 Latex Ink / STS

That would be a lovely question to have answered. Gotta love manual calibration while having issues with printheads. Haha. And no, I can't use the auto. Recently changed majority of them within 2 weeks with zero head strikes here. The printer that gets headstrikes, which uses HP ink, rarely goes...
  18. HP 831 Latex Ink / STS

Not certain on this but I have two HP L360's. One uses STS and the other is running OEM. There are other differences like the STS one is well past in need of SMK#3 and eats PHs left and right. Rarely a strike issue, usually clogs in the head that no amount of printer or manual recovery can do...
  19. Anyone using Onyx in Windows and designing on a Mac?

The designer on site uses a mac, as well as 95% of the terminals on site, and the LF/Cutters and main production are on windows. I do a small amount of editing and creating on the windows terminals and no idea what our customers do. FC8600 here. We use Graphtec Studio just for cuts and Onyx...
  20. Office Depot has a large format printer? Good riddance.

I came from a hub location with OfficeMax back in the day, about 10x the size or more of a regular sized printing department. We were a third of the building but we did not have a latex but we did have a 44" wide Canon inkjet though. I left that store in 2007 if I remember correctly. We went...
