  1. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I guess the young people will have to start filling the manual labor jobs just like they did years back! When I was in high school 1988-1992, we all had jobs. Lots of us worked in fast food. I worked at Hardees from 15-19. It was the best job I ever had! My son graduated 2 years ago and he was...
  2. printing for larger companies

I have not seen that before or been asked by any of the larger companies I work with. Personally, in my small business, if anyone required it I would turn the job down. I have my W9, proof of insurance, and sellers permit saved on my desktop so I can very quickly send it anywhere. Maybe that...
  3. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I think we will avoid the tariffs. Mexico is working with us as of this morning. I have less hope for Canada with your current leadership but let's keep our fingers crossed. We'll just have to increase my prices to account for tariffs if it comes down to that. Down here, we may at some point...
  4. New guy interested in pricing thoughts?

I'm at the same price as ProntoPrinter. I have my pricing on a spreadsheet and common size prices that include 15 minutes of artwork. If you go on FireSprints website he has a template for calculating your hourly along with multiple pricing calculators for decals, coroplast, etc. I use a lot of...
  5. laminating experience, different methods actually used by members. mono print with poly lam?

For vehicles I use Arlon SLX Plus with coordinating gloss laminate. It's cheaper than the 3M 180, quite a few people on here use it. I really like it. I have used the Arlon SLX plus with 3M 8518 with no issues. I also use 3M IJ35 or 40 with 8518 for outdoor signage but for indoor or "car...
  6. Best File Set for vinyl

If I understand correctly, you are filing the edges? I use an electric sander with 180 sandpaper. It's super fast. I used to use a hand file and I don't have the patience for that.
  7. CLIPART SEARCH

    That looks really good
  8. Best File Set for vinyl

I saw some guy in a You Tube video using some kind of little blade thing you set on the side on the substrate and it trims a nice 1/8" off. Is this what you are talking about that doesn't work "as shown on tv"? I've only used the above method of knife and aluminum ruler.
  9. CLIPART SEARCH

This what Corel did and it's not great lol
  10. CLIPART SEARCH

I agree with Boudica, send to the Vector Doctor then you can change the colors if you need to and you have a clean copy.
  11. New Houston Printshop Saying Hi

    Welcome from Wisconsin!
  12. What software are you using for Sigange Designing?

Flexi for almost everything. Sometimes there is a need for me to use Corel for photos and some customer supplied artwork.
  13. Needing to sell a ecommerce AI graphics playground website. Could use some help in what to price it at?

I agree. IMO this is the kind of site some unexperienced person would buy. An actual sign maker cringes at the thought of a customer creating their own artwork LOL
  14. Needing to sell a ecommerce AI graphics playground website. Could use some help in what to price it at?

Can't you just go on Canva and make a design then upload it? That's what all my customers do
  15. plotter cutting issue

Are your rollers down completely? Sometimes one of my rollers that moves the vinyl doesn't go all the way down and causes issues.
  16. Van Mockup

Yup! Got those also just didn't post on here :)
  17. Van Mockup

Mr. Clipart there's another one that others use...help me out....those are templates. Best way to do it for general graphics is to take a photo of the van sides, rear and upload to your computer. Alot of people use the dollar bill taped to the side, but I measure the door side to side and from...
  18. Artwork troubles maybe Vector Doctor can help?

Sorry guys but this thread is from September and the job has been completed LOL I appreciate your time!!
  19. Selling business - worth

Thank you everyone! I'll keep you updated. Whitehaus - that is an excellent point about the systems in place. It's definitely an area I have struggled with when it gets really busy. I've started going through all my junk and got rid of a lot of extra stuff. I think it would be wise to start...
