The 5500 was really designed for indoor giclee and fine art printing. Not outdoor long-term signage.

Bob hits the nail on the head with the costs. Aqueous media requires a specific receptive surface to "soak" up the ink droplets. Its not cheap or easy to find good media that will last a decent amount of time outdoors for a 5500. Even WITH the UV inks installed.

Gotta say avery's A9 matte vinyls look pretty darn nice. Their white and black are niiiiiiice. Please don't hate me.

I have this problem with illustrator as well. Saving as .pdf as someone mentioned earlier will releive the problem.

We have a 5500ps with UV here. Runs great. Probably the printer with the smallest learning curve you'll ever see. We have no problem with getting 2 years or more out of outdoor prints with the right materials. We always use cold lam for outdoor stuff and hot for indoor.

Cant you just print a strip of 100% cyan?

The font in Rochester looks to be Adobe Garamond or of the Sabon family. Could be wrong.
