  1. The Polished Turd Contest - VOTE NOW!

Naaa, #11 Great work here everyone, good to get a laugh out of these. As mentioned, there is a lot of incredible talent showing through these disasters!!!
  2. MORE Free vectors

Some really good stuff here, check it out http://123freevectors.com/ :signs101:
  3. Resale price for printers (what are some of these guys thinking?)

The reason that people are asking these high prices for the printers is because that is probably WHAT THEY OWE on them! People selling their leased equipment are even higher because they have to pay off the entire lease and the buyout (many cases you can get a $1 buyout). Or if they have taken...
  4. TEXTURE site

Wow, great links Shovelhead and Fred, thank you!
  5. Price Posting and Discussion at Signs 101

It's 1:23 am and I'm drunk as a skunk and still think that there are a bunch of crybabies here that expect everyone to feel the same way that they do about how the sky is falling and that their so called "customers" shouldn't be able to search on google and find out how much a 4X8 sheet of MDO...
  6. Price Posting and Discussion at Signs 101

But as for RETAIL prices. really, who cares???
  7. Price Posting and Discussion at Signs 101

I feel completely ignorant here...... I didn't think it was this big of a problem, and maybe that's why I didn't see a problem with people talking about prices in the open forum. I, personally, couldn't care less about my customers finding wholesale prices online. Why would I care?? If...
  8. Pricing in Hard Times

Agreed 100%. When I get slow, and I need the work, I will be a little more aggressive with my pricing. No I don't cut my prices by 25%, but there is a noticeable difference, and I feel that shop workload DOES have an effect on pricing. Many people won't admit to it here on the forums, but I...
  9. Signs 101 mobile?

    DOH! You beat me
  10. Signs 101 mobile?

Nevermind, just click the little "PDA" link in the top right corner, fixed that problem....
  11. Signs 101 mobile?

It looks pretty current, but the posts are in ascending order, so you have to navigate to the very last post to see the most current..... THANKS
  12. Signs 101 mobile?

when you navigate to a site with Google mobile, it automatically adapts a web page for your phone, but does a horrible job..... I would also be curious to see if there is a way to make this site optimized for mobile viewing..... I used to access it all the time with my nokia e61, but it was...
  13. Do you add your Logo...

I stay pretty busy without doing this, and feel that it is the customer's property, not my place to advertise. Besides, customers usually try to use this as a bargaining tactic later "Remember, I let you advertise on my sign" or "I'll let you put your logo on it....." then they expect a discount.
  14. Release of Customer Artwork - Your Policy

    What about something like this......
  15. Release of Customer Artwork - Your Policy

What if a logo was NOT discussed prior to the work and the business is small-scale and probably couldn't afford your logo services anyway??
  16. Release of Customer Artwork - Your Policy

I know that this topic has been debated at great length here at Signs101, but I think that the answer is clear as mud. I am just curious as to how the majority of SIGN SHOPS actually handle this type of situation, HONESTLY! Here is the hypothetical situation, choose the poll option that best...
  17. How do you do this?

The quickest, most ingenious way to do this is to have an employee do it! (ok, maybe it's not the QUICKEST, but you don't have to do it). I will usually do as mentioned and cut them into strips, then sometimes, I can stack a bunch of strips together and cut them all at once. I am faster with...
  18. Font ID Please

Here is a sample of more characters
  19. Font ID Please

I am trying to find a matching font for this type. The original was hand painted, and I had the logo vectorized by the Vector Doctor. Now the customer wants some other lettering on his sign/storefront etc. using the same type, can't find it anywhere. He refers to it as McIntosh (sp?) Era...
  20. What best describes your location?

approx. 1500 sf in a great location on a busy highway. Building is OLD and falling apart, appearance from outside is so-so, we have a single garage bay large enough to accommodate a cargo van/medium pickup. My father owns the building (I have great rent) but I would love to move into a more...
