  1. Here's an absolute new one for me, after 51 years.............................................

I don't know what's going on, but Gino's design looks much nicer -- who would put services spread out like the second layout?
  2. Discussion Is there any young future Sign employees???

The big thing really is partly people around my age and younger don't really become aware of the industries that don't affect their immediate lives without reeeaaally reaching out there. I became aware that shoemaking and tailoring was a thing more because I read about it in a fantasy book and...
  3. No workers anywhere. Hint, we are in the PRC (People's Republic of California)

This may be my lack of life and world experience, but wouldn't you want to expand on the resources to support the people already there before even considering more housing? In my town we have plenty of water, but we have to have three redundancies in place in case one of our electricity sources...
  4. No workers anywhere. Hint, we are in the PRC (People's Republic of California)

Here in my town lots of young adults either can't get out of the small island town fast enough, can't afford to yet, or are trying to move in to their own little forest cabin (that they have to buy land and then spend money building before they can move in). I can think of three friends...
  5. Covid Sick Time?

But, but, but, it's so much easier to just not think!!!! :'( What if I hurt my poor head having thoughts???
  6. Lets Go!

Is that one of the actors from "Letterkenny"? I am admittedly more a roller derby or volleyball kid than I am racecars.
  7. Best 5:48 you'll spend today...

Ooh, that's a fixation I haven't had for a while. Gotta bookmark this for after work.
  8. Recommendation on Supplier for Frosted Sparkle

I got the frosted sparkle! Stephanie at Fellers was super helpful in making sure the amount we needed got out right away and keeping up with us during the shipping process. Now to get the vinyl applied to the door.
  9. Recommendation on Supplier for Frosted Sparkle

After trying to contact a few of the big supplier names I saw here, I got a response from Fellers. I should have the vinyl I need in about a week! I'll post an update (and hopefully happy ending) when it arrives.
  10. Recommendation on Supplier for Frosted Sparkle

So setting the context, I got a request for new window film on a conference room door at the library due before their event in early December. By mid October everything's set, I got the Avery frosted sparkle window film ordered, life's good and everybody's happy. The vinyl is expected to arrive...
  11. Grocery Aisle Signage

I did look up the Shelf Talkers, and they were not what I needed for the original job. The aisle signs I was referring to were the ones that hang from the ceiling. However, I did learn something new, so thank you again! :)
  12. Grocery Aisle Signage

Thanks for the help, Bob! The job is alreadfy done though. :)
  13. Grocery Aisle Signage

We were trying to get the 1 mil PVC Gino recommended from our supplier at the time, but apparently the shipment they "sent out" was never actually sent out because they were going out of business. We did find another nearby supplier pretty quickly and they got us a couple of really nice sheets...
  14. Grocery Aisle Signage

Reviving this thread to give a happy ending -- the inserts were made, the signs are now all pretty and uniform, and we got a job to help the grocery store redo the lettering on their delivery vehicles and dock signs (advertising delivery to fishermen) too! Everything went smoothly, and they're...
  15. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

Why would it stay still, though? The plane itself is generating a force to push it forward (the jets), and because every action has to have an equal and opposite reaction, that is usually enough to start pushing it forward. In this case, the plane does not need an outside force to start going.
  16. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

I think you're onto something big here!
  17. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

Oh nice! Now I really have get off the island and check it out. :)
  18. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

Oh, gotcha! I included the lack of friction because I thought it was funny that it was brought up earlier. Also....what's a people mover? I haven't left my island in two years so I'm technically still in 2018. :)
  19. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

...then if there's no force being put on the plane, how's it gonna move in the first place?
  20. A plane on a treadmill - physics question

Oh, oh, I think I know! Taking the original question into mind (ie, ignoring frictionless wheels, ignoring the fact that wheels "have nothing to do with taking off", not calculating for an as of yet unmentioned wind speed, etc., etc.), then the answer is: plane's not going to move. Using...
