  1. Need input on which kind of Computer is the best to use for Designing.

I see the common denominator here but I won't get into that. SSD, Memory and Graphics card is the key. 32 or above is good. Steer away from AMD graphics cards too. Dump temp files often.
  2. Raster and Vector Image Customer Rant

Just yesterday I received an email with a logo attached. Boss wanted me to verify if it's good or not. 500dpi png! I could tell it was a low res from the start and somebody tried to "upsample" it. Boss passed on the info and asked for a vector file. He sends me their reply with an attachment...
  3. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

I've been with the company 19 years and counting. We've always had at least one full time "salesperson" of sorts. More like a customer service team. We normally have 2 designated but we all can help customers. We really don't have a need to "sell". We get enough business as it is. Whenever we...
  4. Anyone know a windows equivalent to Gerber Omega Jenson Medium Acct. AK Rev. B?

Ha, found the Derringer font too but...
  5. Printing Translucent to keep the reflective.

Or in darker room just shine a flashlight on it. We print to reflective all the time. Latex though.
  6. Printing A Color Swatch Table For Reference.

When we first got our HP Latex printers we started with printing different Pantone charts. BTW Corel has had a nice macro to create them for years. Anyway, we soon realized that there are too many variables to consider. Media type, laminate type, number of passes, etc. We now just rely on the...
  7. Printing A Color Swatch Table For Reference.

Ha, we have a "Jersey Mike" green, "Sacred Heart" purple, "NWFSC" red, and a few others.
  8. Anyone know a windows equivalent to Gerber Omega Jenson Medium Acct. AK Rev. B?

Omega software has the ability to make windows fonts from these. We had Omega years ago but no longer have that workstation set up. I could give the text I need and someone, who is willing, type them out and send me an eps files.
  9. Need Help What the font?

Anyone know a windows equivalent to Jenson Medium Acct. AK Rev. B?
  10. Who wants to help.................................................................

Jumped over to the Corel Community forum and asked a friend of mine who often posts about the incompatibility between AMD and CorelDraw. I, myself, haven't any experience with it. We've always had NVidia here at work, as well as, on all my personal pc's. Here's his reply. "Myron I wish I could...
  11. Who wants to help.................................................................

I personally would stay away from AMD. There are some design software (CorelDRAW) that doesn't work well together.
  12. Font Help

Might try a form of Zing Rust or Zing Rust Rust Demo Base
  13. What resolution is everyone printing at

Right you are. Our print tech has just relied on the "canned" profiles available for the type of media. He has only tweaked a few and gave them unique names.
  14. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

    Me, a professional. :roflmao:
  15. What resolution is everyone printing at

Latex HP's here. I'm not the print tech but I know our standard is 8pass. We have certain clients who are very particular of their branding colors, as they should be, so sometimes in order to hit that we have to bump up passes but rarely above 12. Interesting too that pantone colors print closer...
  16. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

    Unprofessional not to.
  17. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

Shouldn't be any white around the edge if set up correctly and pull away the out ring as described.
  18. Die cut stickers one or two passes?

Most times we'll cut twice but in a different way than described here. First cut to just cut the vinyl, 2nd cut is offset slightly larger and set to "punch-cut" aka Half Cut. Wouldn't want to do it this way for any run more than, say, 50 though. lol Then go back and pull off the outer "ring"
  19. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

Yeah, thanks, kinda figured that part out. Also figured out that the blue anchor points are part of guides. I can marquee select those anchor points and delete 'em but still doesn't make a difference when saving as pdf. Only if I copy and paste to a new doc.
  20. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

I think you're right, Doc. lol Maybe it wasn't designed in illy. Something definitely "wonky" in the file. If I go ctrl+a (select all) it says 227.5417w x 227.5417h. If I marquee select just the artwork it says 96.5178w x 34.5052h. So I copy, create a new doc at 97w x 35h then paste, then save...
