  1. Put your money where your mouth is!

Premium subscription is a no-brainer. I have found that the ability to search and share info on S101 is a valuable tool. It will certainly boost my bottom line and perspective on the industry as a whole. Many thanks to the mods, merchants and contributors who make this possible. Where else...

I'd bet a dollar that the blade holder is wollered out. Place a new sharpie in the carriage see what that brings you.
  6. Cutting software for Corel X3

I'm not sure about Old Paint but for myself, and my roland, I ad a hairline outline to whatever shape> hit print>select cutter>print preview>and start cuttin'.
  7. Cutting presure

Downforce should be adjustable on the cutter in grams. I use a roland and it has a nifty slide bar on the side to adjust on the fly while cutting.
  8. I am so sick of customers

Yeah, I know. It's like feeding a stray cat. Soon all the cats in the neighborhood will be at your door.
  9. I am so sick of customers

Churches, housekeepers, auto detailers and landscapers are the most notorious time bandits. As soon as I learn who they are and see the junk pile they drove up in I tell them to save the pie-in-the-sky dreaming and come back when they are ready to commit some hard currency to these 'great...
  10. Here's a New One for You....Maybe

It's been done already. Cut or print, lay graphic, use heat gun and rivet brush, cover with clear coat, wait for failure in 2-3 years. When that happens top coat with fresh liner and begin again. Speed Liner products (polyurethane) will allow you to use ppg colorant to spray with a reverse...
  11. Greetings from Bare Foot Sign..

    Howdy from central Florida...
  12. OEM vehicle wraps coming from Ford

It would have to be in the ballpark. If not a little higher. Example, When I subbed work to the dealerships for glass tinting they would want to payout something like $110 and charge the customer $280 for a job that would retail at my store for around $179. What would happen is the client...
  13. Cutting direct from Corel

I use a hairline outline and cut direct to a roland with no issues.
  14. Anybody seen Mosh?

Maybe so but that darned whiskey wont drink itself! :toasting:
  15. OEM vehicle wraps coming from Ford

They keep the rest. The easy money of design and print it theirs. An economy of scale is applied to the production. If you mess up one of the panels you have to send them 'proof' that it is unusable and they will send you another. That's how they will keep a grip on the art and be sure that...
  16. Dead Beat customer

Any time I take a delayed payment i have the customer write out a check each installment due when the work order is signed. Personal drivers license for enforcement purposes and NO post dating but I will delay deposit until the specified time of agreement. If the client tries to screw me it's...
  17. need advice - email from freelancer

Collect his 1099 info and send him a final check, instead of cash over the counter like it sounded. Hire a shop hand to take up the slack for 12 bux an hour and wait til November. Freelancers always seem to want whats on your plate as well as theirs, and they would have it if you let them.
  18. what do you charge for designing a wrap

If you're not billing by the hour the client is not truly committed to the project and will expect all the changes they can dream up with no sense of completion. I bill in three phases. Design, material quality and installation. They are welcome to be a tightwad if they chose but in the end...
  19. Here's an odd request

I would use a 2x4 sub frame with 3/8" pvc exterior. If you lift it 6" on to some harbor freight casters any one can move it. Put a couple of slots for handles and you're golden.
  20. OEM vehicle wraps coming from Ford

In the meantime young installers will slaughter themselves for peanuts and leave a path of returns and warranty issues at the dealerships. After a while the end consumer will want to work with an owner/operator instead of waiting for the "regional tech" to make his way back around to fix his...
