  1. Is there a take up reel that works with Print & Cut jobs?

I don't think this is entirely correct. My Roland TU does not feed material back. On my XR, if you set it to TU2 mode, the print will not take up on the reel as it is printing, so your print will most likely come in contact with the floor. It will only wind up on the take up after it is finished...
  2. SC545 Print Cut way off AFTER adjustment

When I had that printer, I recall having a similar issue, but not 1/4" difference. I found that that adjustment is almost useless. What I did was create a print/cut file of a square and use that as the test. Set the setting to 0 and see how off the cut is and then adjust accordingly. It takes a...
  3. Automation Software for Roland VersaWorks

Not aware of any software that can do this, but would be interested in it if you do find something. Where are you getting the cell phone cases?
  4. Mimaki CJV30 Low Quality Print Vs. Risk Of Warping ?

I laminate so with the lam its about 4-5 mil. Without the lam, the 3651 may be too thin for a retail RTA decal. Thicker doesn't mean better material. Look at the cast vinyls, they are usually 2mil or less. Thicker just makes it easier for the customer to apply. You could also try 3165.
  5. Mimaki CJV30 Low Quality Print Vs. Risk Of Warping ?

Nope, I was speaking of 3164. Even with no bleed, I've had the 3164 shrink noticeably. If all your customers care about is price, use the 3164. The 3651 is about $70 more a roll for 54".
  6. Mimaki CJV30 Low Quality Print Vs. Risk Of Warping ?

It is the vinyl. 3164 for us will always shrink with a full bleed. You don't need to use a cast vinyl, just a better intermediate calendared vinyl. You get what you pay for. The 3164 is pretty much the cheapest printable vinyl Oracal offers. We started using 3651 instead. Why would you even want...
  7. Using Roland XR-640 and GX-640

We've got a XR and a GX640. The only thing I like about the 2 together is the ease of use with Versaworks, but I'd sell our GX-640 to get a SUMMA. Roland and close tolerances are 2 words that don't usually go together.
  8. Tubes for shipping rolled graphics - Recommendation needed

How do you cut them down? We usually use a utility knife, but it's difficult to get a straight cut and very time consuming.
  9. Tubes for shipping rolled graphics - Recommendation needed

Boxes will get smooshed, not all the time, but it will happen. Tubes are the best protection, but the downside is cost, storage and additional weight. We get them from Uline.
  10. Machine/Service/Supply distributor in SF Bay area?

If those are your only products you want to offer, just get a aqueous printer such as a Canon imageprograph or Epson 9900 for under $5k. The aqueous printer would be better suited for the posters and foam core signs. I wouldn't invest in a $15k+ solvent/latex printer just to do banners.
  11. Machine/Service/Supply distributor in SF Bay area?

What are you planning to print? We are in Petaluma too and use denco for service and ink and advantage signs for materials.
  12. Better Pre-mask machine

So much luck you want to sell it lol? Thanks, but I already have a UStech laminator. If anything, I'd want to find a 30" laminator dedicated to pre-mask There's no price listed and doesn't seem to be any US distributers. I'm going to assume it cost more than a laminator. Looks interesting...
  13. Better Pre-mask machine

We are currently going though 1-3 rolls of pre mask a day. Masking by hand is too time consuming, we've tried the weber systems(too much time) and the Image one impact "pro roll", which is useless. We currently have 2 sheeters and they work good, but they don't work well for long items, i.e...
  14. Shirts.. Tagless, private labeling?

We have a special tag platen to help us with printing tags or our logo on the backs of shirts. Can't find the direct link to order it, but here is a video of how it works - http://youtu.be/VwSE8G6bclo
  15. Canon IPF 8000 Question(s) - Worth the money?

We've got an 8300. Good for high quality printing on paper, canvas or anything for indoor. Does the printer come with ink? If not it will cost $2000+ for all the cartridges if its the 12 color model.
  16. how do you convert fs, files to ve lxi file?

You should be able to open the flexi file in LXI. I just did it on my machine. When you go to open the file, be sure to change the filetype from "All Readable" to "All Files". You should then be able to see the flexi file and open it.
  17. Vendor for custom imprinted squeegees?

Any recommendations for a vendor other than Lidco for custom hot stamped squeegees?
  18. GraphixCALC Pro Sign Estimator

Any plan to include screen printing/dtg estimating?
  19. Cut misalignment on XR-640

I have to agree with stickercutting. We have a Sc-545, XR-640 and a GX-640. I am constantly let down by Roland being 1/16" off on all three machines. I've spent hours manually adjusting the print/cut setting and sending test prints/cut and still end up off on either the left side of the sheet or...
  20. Spacing/Margins for perf cutting?

I usually do a .40 or .50 spacing. I also keep the sheet length to 30" or 36". Anymore and I find that the decals on the back of the sheet are not cut accurately. This is with a Roland GX-640 and I use all 4 of the pinch rollers.
