  1. Cutting software for Corel X3

I'm a fan of CoCut Pro...have been using it for several years now. Works with Corel, Illustrator, AutoCAD and Freehand. Very simple, but also has some really neat features such as welding, rounding corners, weed lines, etc.
  2. How to run business out of my home...

Also ensure that setback restrictions are met, building size is not too large and if it matters how many employees you can have...speaking from experience here. All three of these were against us so we had to move to a commercial location. Initially thought it would be good to be a "real"...
  3. Cutting Quality Issues

No idea if this is the issue, but I just had an issue with my older Summa D60 where the cut quality had deteriorated from perfect to very iffy in places. I discovered that there was dirt packed on the track and wheels relative to the cut head. I don't have a pic of it all and don't know if the...
  4. Cut contour

I cannot say it any clearer than this. Unless they have changed the software, it MUST MUST MUST be named EXACTLY as shown above. FYI, I too used a Magenta color due to it rarely, if ever, being used in a design. Try it and see if it works, then you'll know. You've got nothing to lose, as...
  5. Cut contour

The cut contour color makes absolutely no difference. You typically just make it some color that you don't ever use (or rarely), but it makes no difference. What does matter is that the color be a Spot color, be of hairline width and be called EXACTLY "CutContour" or "CutPath" (depends on the...
  6. software question

Ask whoever did them before to do them again...as in, why not hire a professional to continue the work that's already been done?
  7. SP540 Head height

I don't think I ever changed the head height from LOW in the 4+ yrs of running mine.
  8. How long does your RIP take?

We routinely had RIP jobs in the hundreds of MBs or even GBs. Most jobs, like say for a 4'x8' print, would take about 5 minutes. That was using Wasatch SoftRIP and a decent PC (WinXP 32-bit Quad-Core). Sometimes you'd get jobs that might take 30 minutes, but not many.
  9. Profiles

Ain't nothin' like being able to make your OWN profiles. You'd be amazed at how much better output you'll get.
  10. Phase VI of the Plasti-Plane project!

If in fact you get to land that thing, gonna be a bitch to not tip it over side-to-side...landing gear doesn't look nearly wide enough proportionatly. Still, looks like a serious kick in the pants.
  11. Calendard vs cast Vinyl

Personally, I think Oracal 751 is one of the finest vinyls out there (best value vs. performance). Sounds to me like operator error, not the material.
  12. Should I have a server?!!!

+1, I have two of them.
  13. CS5 Photoshop Content-Aware Fill

Yes it was...as originally posted by Jon Aston...http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=64050 Also note that this is not "new" but is supported by GIMP and at least one other standalone product.
  14. 6 Degrees of Separation and the Power of Movies and the Internet

Wow, that is really awesome...how cool is that?!
  15. This Will Blow You Away. Sneak Peek at The New Photoshop.

Not yet, but everyone should since GIMP is free!!!
  16. This Will Blow You Away. Sneak Peek at The New Photoshop.

Impressive....that is until you see that GIMP has a substantially similar plugin that's been around for a couple years! http://o3.tumblr.com/post/470608946/photoshops-caf-content-aware-fill-unbelievable
  17. Cold vs Hot Wraps

What a dumb@$$...stupidity should be painful.
  18. Caveat Emptor: (Thinking of buy Wasatch Softrip?)

He he, glad I could help (at my own expense it seems :-)
  19. Used sp 540 value or headache?

FYI, I just sold my 4-yr old SP-540V with a media basket, Triangle bulk ink system and a Dingtec laminator for $12,000. The printer was serviced last year with a new print head, encoder strip and some other basic parts. I think I got a fair price and consider it all to be in excellent...
