  1. new logo... after some hard thinking and a little advice ;)

The lower case "s" has two tails. The little appendage is completely unnecessary (and looks weird and out of place) and doesn't even connect with the proper cursive loop-around anyway.
  2. Roland giving some money back ?

If you put a pen in place of the blade holder, run your job, with lamination, registration marks un-laminated... and it still is way off then there is something wrong with the machine. But if it draws the line with the pen (at light pressure obviously) at the right spots on the graphics, then...
  3. Got Brought Up Top Speed On LED, Electronic Ballasts, New Style Fluorescent Tubes

Again... get a "Watts Up" and don't listen to the sales pitch. Also, all those lights are manufactured in China anyway. Why pay the over priced mark-up when you can just buy right from the source. I get at least 1 email a day from several of the lighting manufacturers, ever since I made contact...
  4. What is a good basic sign program?

Heh heh... Should I? Free vector program is InkScape. And you can cut them on a plotter. A good (freeish) cheap plotter running software is SignCut.
  5. Got Brought Up Top Speed On LED, Electronic Ballasts, New Style Fluorescent Tubes

Get a little plug in device called "Watts Up" and leave your light plugged in for 30 days. From there you can easily extrapolate power consumption and make a legitimate comparison. (if you have two of them)
  6. Paper Application Tape Problems, HELP

Paper Masking sucks. Been paper free for 10 years now.
  7. Epoxy fill for aluminum

When I was a kid the little frames we poured the crystals in was made out of metal. Then they were hung in Windows being exposed to the sun all the time and they never fell out. I'm betting that if they melted down into a mold with a back they'd stick even better.
  8. What's Your Method of Color Registration

Wow! Such a hotly debatable subject. :Big Laugh I thought cut vinyl was way easier than this. Never had these head scratcher moments for plain 'ol vinyl. But interesting read nonetheless. Seeing how people's minds wrap around a task. Tips from the old tymers is always a bonus. Maybe I'll get a...
  9. Epoxy fill for aluminum

I can see this being a lucrative side business, if you've got clever enough designs and machined work to match!
  10. Contour cuts WAY OFF !!!

Too much blade pressure causes the grit rollers to slip on the smooth paper liner of the vinyl. If the vinyl slips by 1mm, over the course of 4 feet that's quite a bit of shift. (48mm is approximately 3/4" which is what your graphics look like in the picture)
  11. Install printed clear vinyl on 2nd surface of clear acrylic

That's the same size I make, 12" x 96" It's almost fool proof this way.
  12. Epoxy fill for aluminum

I've got this machined aluminum "positive" I made for a company so I could make some silicone molds for their chocolate bars. I may get some of these baking crystals and try it out.
  13. Epoxy fill for aluminum

Found it... they are called "Baking Crystals" http://www.ebay.com/bhp/baking-crystals
  14. Install printed clear vinyl on 2nd surface of clear acrylic

I have an ongoing contract with a kiosk builder to make 80 second surface signs every week. I use my mounter. I have a sticky roller and microfiber cloths. There are two ways to do this. The scrap of leader board (has to be the same thickness) or use the mounter as your hinge hold down. That's...
  15. Epoxy fill for aluminum

Remember that stuff we used to be able to get as kids. There were these cookie cutter metal forms, and we'd take these beads and pour them in, then place the whole thing in the oven. The beads would melt and we'd end up with stained glass looking things that we gave to mom.
  16. What's Your Method of Color Registration

What kind of cut vinyl comes 8' x 8'? This sign place I worked as basically an intern, they did large sign cans with polycarbonate faces. Had to use translucent vinyl, and couldn't overlap anything other than black. We slid those into place all the time. They had their own soapy/alcohol mixture...
  17. Is this a specific effect?

I used Google images "Vector Globe Dots" and I found quite a bit of stuff that relates to what you are looking for.
  18. 2 logo ideas. Need help with direction

Just put a box around it! Yeah! :thumb:
  19. What's Your Method of Color Registration

Yeah, what he said... Stars, squares and triangles? I've never heard of such a technique. I thought you just needed a good eye and steady hand. (Or just break things down into smaller, manageable pieces) Was this technique in some beginners guide to cut vinyl or something? How can so many...
