  1. Font ID Please

Dang...amazing. Fred for the win. Thanks Fred!
  2. What you guys do if you burn out?

Yep, I'm with Phillip. I bought a business that had been around 25 years are the prices my grandpa (previous owner) charged were too low, and he was known for that. I used to work 8AM to Midnight 6 days a week when I first started out, and I still was barely paying the bills. A bunch of...
  3. Font ID Please

I was trying to match this up with some form of Helvetica but it's apparently not that. Anyone have a font ID on this? I have a bunch of directional signs to update on a college campus and have to match it up.
  4. Double sided banners on 360 - large run

I normally tell people I can do them two single sided for less than a double sided, then if they want a double, I sub it. Only takes a couple screw ups, and you're throwing a ton of material away that you've already printed one side of.
  5. Where can I get painted steel blanks? Everyone just has aluminum.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out tomorrow. I always use aluminum, because of all the reasons listed above, but we're doing something where we need to swap out magnets for schedules and things like that, so need to have a way to do that.
  6. Where can I get painted steel blanks? Everyone just has aluminum.

I've called every supplier on my list, even ones I haven't ordered from in years, and no one has steel blanks. I'm hoping I don't have to deal with a local metal shop, because it's such a small deal, they won't want to mess with it. I just need (2) 2' X 3' in something like .040 or .080...
  7. Any thoughts on a supplier for these sign blanks?

You might check Newman Signs. They specialize in road and DOT stuff, but seems like they have a lot of things that are "general public".
  8. Creating a vector map from google maps

Anyone know of an online source that would let me create vector art from google? I have a town that came to me wanting to blow up a parade route and I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to get it done. Worst case I'll just have to do it by hand, but figured maybe there was something I...
  9. Profiling suggestions around Chicago/Indianapolis area

Updating the profile didn't do me any good. Just putting some calls in now to places I can find online to see what my options are. I'll probably end up just using Advantage. They've always stood behind their products, so I'd at least know I wasn't going to have this problem again and be on my...
  10. Profiling suggestions around Chicago/Indianapolis area

I didn't know that about the firmware, maybe I'll delete that profile and re-download it and see if that helps. Red is my main issue, pretty good other than that. And yes, I basically only use one profile. Been that way since I can remember. I find one that works, get my heat settings...
  11. Profiling suggestions around Chicago/Indianapolis area

Ever since my HP was installed about 8 months ago, I've had trouble getting the red that I needed to get in my main profile, and I've had a problem printing at higher speeds for when speed counts and DPI isn't quite as important. I've tried to mess around with it a little, but either my HP or...
  12. Shutting down a sign shop, thoughts and lessons learned.

I really didn't think of it as an option until I realized I wasn't really happy where I was then, and I found out my grandparents were ready to have a conversation with another company in town buying them out. They were still around daily for probably a year, and it stayed in the same place, so...
  13. What all do you remove on trailer door when wrapping it?

Yeah, I never gave it a ton of thought as to hiring someone that knows how, at least until I feel like I would know what's going on with it. That's probably my best option in this case. Good info.
  14. Shutting down a sign shop, thoughts and lessons learned.

All true. Almost 12 years ago I bought my business from my grandparents who ran it for 25 years before that. Most of their customers disappeared and I had to find my own groove and business relationships to survive. The first 7 years were touch and go at points, and I think I probably paid...
  15. What all do you remove on trailer door when wrapping it?

I have a trailer I'm working on the design for a wrap/graphics, and I'm trying to figure out what to do around the latches on the doors (where you'd put the pad lock). Do you guys normally just run the security type bolts out of the latches, or do you leave those in? I've been in this...
  16. Does Graphtec have a cut length limit?

I'm using cutting master 3. I finally figured out where the page size was and set it to 1000CM. It was on 200. Sure enough, soon as I made that change, it cut everything perfectly. If only I could get back the roll of 48" Oracal that I wasted on learning of this problem, I'd be a happy camper.
  17. Does Graphtec have a cut length limit?

I recently had to do a factory reset on my Graphtec, and so far, it fixed one problem, but now has lead to another problem. My cutter just randomly stops cutting whenever it feels like it. I had 10 yard signs printed, it cut a little over half the vinyl. I just tried cutting some giant...
  18. Design Priced by sq.ft. ...Really?

HA! Every time I have Phillip design me a giant banner, he always wants to charge me by the square foot! He doesn't...but he wishes he could!
  19. Anyone wrapped a motorcycle exhaust? Just muffler, not headers!

Yeah, I've got some FMF pipes on my banshee that appear to just be standard vinyl and they're forever old still holding up fine.
