I suggest looking into the Epson 60600. I've ran Mimaki and Roland also and would not go back. Do not recommend Latex either after our experiences. I do not recommend UV unless it is a flatbed either.

Our installers ran into this also, and if the door is reinforced/armored you're in a real pickle. They haven't found a good solution yet, so we've been modifying layouts to accommodate for missing the door handle on 2020 cruisers and notifying the customers that we can't remove them like before.

We use Gerber GITD vinyl. With it priced as it is, I would do this all as laid up vinyl. More labor, but dang that vinyl is expensive.

We print on our Epsons and cut on our Mimaki CG plotters without issue, just be sure the roll isn't too heavy for the plotter to pull it.

Everywhere I have worked that used 3rd party inks had issues with heads going bad. Here, we only use OEM inks (now OEM/MCS inks) and have never had any head issues. We print a LOT of vinyl, so you'd think we'd go through heads.... only ever replaced them due to employee negligence/head strikes.

Here is a template for a 2018 (and other years) Dodge Promaster (Full Size) Hood. Customers wanted their logo to flow along the bodylines of this hood, so I had to draw it up to get the curves right. Figure someone else might run into this same issue.

The additional white ink does not cause any more maintenance/cleaning issues than normal. Maintenance is very minimal and quick when necessary. We spend about 5 minutes a week cleaning each of ours.

Malkin above is correct. It is either the encoder strip or sensor is dirty. Clean them.

Both of those are "OK" looking. I would also recommend a solvent printer, running a quality mode (not high speed). UV is not what you want for wraps at all and Latex isn't that great on small details. I would also recommend using 3M IJ480mc for the vinyl paired with the matching 3M laminate...
