  1. Need Help Summa Dc5sx Vs Hp 110 And Laminator

Like everyone else said, a 30" vs 54" isn't a huge price difference and you can put smaller material in the 54" machine, but can't cram 54" material in the 30". As for DC5 vs HP 110 I would strongly recommend the HP. The DC5 has it's uses (it's best suited for smaller decals, especially if...
  2. Summa OPOS tips

A little late to the party, but if you haven't got it working yet.. I've never used Flexi as a RIP software, but this is how it's done in Onyx. First you need to change the plotter Port settings from "Summa USB" to "Cut to folder". What that does is rather than sending the cut data directly...
  3. Color Shifting...

I run into the same issue with our Summa and running the gutters. Just slap a piece of white vinyl over an inch or two of the gutter next to the first mark and it should find it just fine. Never had any issue with all the others once it finds the initial mark.
  4. Avery Digital Film Class

The only complaints I heard are from people who didn't pass the certification at the end of the class, Justin Pate is a tough critic. I almost failed on the first section because the film angle shifted and I had one bad cut (you couldn't see it on the dark blue car, but if it was white it would...
  5. Need Help training for very new installation tech.

No, it's not rocket science, but proper technique and understanding is key to whether a wrap fails in 3 months or lasts for 5 years. Making it sound so simple just hurts the industry and produces bad installers, because it's not as simple as watching Youtube videos and practicing in your garage...
  6. Window Perf on Store Front

I've done a few small perf jobs in sub-freezing/just above freezing temperatures. It's like you're trying to lay down a brittle, easily ripped, thin sheet of plastic with fingers that barely bend. It sucks, and it's a bit more difficult, but I never got any call backs for them and they looked...
  7. Printing greys on Oracal 5650 looks brown-ish when reflecting light. (360 and 26500)

It was exported as an eps and all ICC profiles were off. Color dropper shows only black. Thanks. I'll look that over when I get a minute.
  8. Printing greys on Oracal 5650 looks brown-ish when reflecting light. (360 and 26500)

Whenever I print greys on 5600/5650 reflective it looks more brown-ish than grey when reflecting light. The print itself looks fine in normal light, but when reflecting it looks bad. Greys are whatever % of black, not CMYK or RGB. Is that just how it is with grey or am I missing something?
  9. summa dc4xs thermal printer

Yup, each pass is 3.84 inches/97mm so the majority of the samples they send out are under 4 inches. Of course all the samples they send are designed to look their best.
  10. summa dc4xs thermal printer

I'm going to have to somewhat disagree with this. With spot colors it's really only noticeable if you know it's there or what to look for. Some extremely picky customer might see it, but it's not very noticeable. CMYK on the other hand is, in my opinion, unacceptable. They have low resolution...
  11. Summa Barcode Server + Onyx 12

Thank you for that write-up, I got it up and running thanks to that. I always have trouble finding what I need in their online help..
  12. You guys recognize that machine?

It looks to be a Summa DC3, current model is the DC5.
  13. Thinnest, Most Conformable Over-Laminate?

As for the life of the film, I don't think it matters if you mix brands, as long as you don't use a calendar lam with a cast film or something like that. As far as I know they only reason to use the same brand lam and film is for warranty. There's no way 3M would warranty their lam on Avery...
  14. S 160 tT & windows 10

It's been a while since I upgraded to 10, but I think I had to change the Emulation language in Configuration>Settings>Communication to DM/PL. I think? Does it show up anywhere in Device Manager?
  15. HP Latex 365...

Thanks for the helpful post. I got an update on the Latex Mobile app that said it now supported the 365, then after I posted I found it on HPs website. But I don't see a difference in print speeds, dpi, # of printheads, etc. So I was simply asking if anybody knows the difference.
  16. HP Latex 365...

We just got our 360 installed 2 weeks ago, and while I love it, I just saw this morning that HP just came out with a Latex 365. Anybody know what the difference is between the 360 and new 365? If it's a few square feet per hour faster I don't care much, but if there are major changes I'm going...
  17. Kia Rio has black vinyl around the windows...seriously

We're part of a dealership group and on pretty much every car that has black on the pillars and around the window it's vinyl. As long as it doesn't get damaged it'll last a pretty damn long time. We get one every few months come in that needs replacing, but usually it's physical damage, once...
