  3. any good 3D rendering software?

like many have already mentioned, there are some great full featured free solutions out there. Also they all have different learning curves too. Blender (advanced: high end out put) Google's Sketchup: (intermediate: low res output) Illustrator has great 3D tools and can output resolution...
  4. Versaworks Help

MGraphics, I can't imagine what you would be printing that needs a file size on 4G. But that neither here nore there. Try to open the image in Photoshop. Then check the image mode. It should be 8 bits per channel. Some times (not sure how or why) customers send me files that are in 16bits per...
  5. Do I need Resizing Software?

Like he GIGO rule applies more oftern then not. But there is a piece of software by AlienSkin called "Blow Up". (Same guys the make the Eyecandy PS plugins I thought I was just a gimmick until I got to try it. Excellent program albeit on the pricey side. If you MUST HAVE another program...
  6. Material Fail?

SAR.Summerlin, Your problem IS the media I think. If it is the same stuff they supply you with to do your windows, is cheap calendared vinyl. And with all the Vegas sun, I'm certain it just failed in the heat/uv. I am intimately familiar with the "Starter kits" they give out. Yes, you can get...
  7. Material Fail?

This may be a silly question, but did you clean your dibond well before applying your graphics? And with what? I use Dibond/MaxMetal ALL the time. But once in a while some comes in with oils on it. Maybe from the manufacture process, who knows? But its wont even hold the protective film. On...
  8. versaworks not seeing image in illustrator file

After you "place" an image in illy, I believe you need to "Embed" the placed items or else it will not appear in your export. When you place the image, illy only sees it as a link to the original, to help keep file size lower. Then, assuming you export a file to be printed, VW cant see (or...

Do you use multiple computers at a single desk? Do you use a KVM hardware solution? If so I think you my find these two software solutions useful. Synergy: http://synergy-foss.org/ I use it. It works great. Microsoft garage: Mouse with out Borders. Never used, but seems to have a...
  10. File Server

Wow. Thanks for all the info. For the moment I just bought a gigabit switch from Fry's. Rearranged some of the cat5 and i'm done. Works great. Just as fast as it was before. I use Synergy to control the other machine (although MS's mouse with out borders looks good) But we are moving to a...
  11. Poll: Are you printing CMYK, or RGB files from Versaworks?

Lots of good into in this thread. But i will add my two pennies anyway. I design everything in RGB to start. It is the widest color gamut. Now mind you, our shop is not at the point where we are creating custom profiles and calibrating our monitors (I wish we would now, but we will in time)...
  12. File Server

Hi All, Question for the group: Any tips on setting up a file server/network storage. (I have searched here and read a ton, But I thought to start a new thread to get some new fresh ideas.) Currently, we have all of our job files stored on an older XP based machine. This PC also serves...

  16. My house of poo

WOW. Sorry you have to deal that. Had something similar happen years ago. But fortunately it happened in the line outside. City to took of the damage, and the new lawn. Document it ALL. Looks like the Mrs. may get that new bathroom shes been wanting, on the townships dime. Good luck.
  17. AutoMark: The definite answer

Well... I take that back. The price sheet I got was wrong. Glad I called. The price listed was for 100yds (Not 50 yds). Still quite a bit more expensive than the average. Still about $100 more per roll from my local vendors. So now its either this combo, IJ480Cv3 & 8548G or this combo...
  18. AutoMark: The definite answer

Hi All, Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! So I have read all of the posts here that contain the phrase "automark". But I see the responses going either way. Its good, it not good, its ok on flat surfaces, its ok for contours but only short term. I have a 04' Jeep Liberty (the...
  19. Race car proof pdf. How too?

Take a look at your flexi templates. FILE > TEMPLATES > OPEN TEMPLATE. I think the proof one is JOB3 or something. You can manipulate this file to your liking. Then save the file as a new template. FILE > TEMPLATES > SAVE AS TEMPLATE. it will prompt you for a name. Post up is you would like...
  20. Race car proof pdf. How too?

Depends on what software you design in. Flexi has the template feature (which I use daily). Illustrator can do it also but it take a pinch of think and math to make it work right. Same with Corel. Listing your software would probably help get you a better answer.
