  1. Pole Banner Printing, 1 vs 2 sided

I have a (light) pole banner job coming up that I have done on the HP 5500 UV, printing the banners single sided then sewing them together with pole pockets top and bottom. I have a Roland VS-640 on order that should be installed before this job is ready to go and I am wondering if it is...
  2. newbie of the year

Smart man! Always get paid up front, at the very least a big deposit and COD for the rest. Never let the political wonk out of sight before you check your pockets for anything that might be missing. If you don't get paid for a job and the election is lost you won't get paid.
  3. fire dept wouldn't put the fire out...

Many of us pay for medical insurance many do not... We all expect to be taken care of at the ER when it is needed. Many of us pay taxes many do not... We all expect emergency services like Fire and Police when needed. I pay my taxes and if the house next door is burning I want it put out ASAP...
  4. take-up reel

I just ordered a VS-640 and they say it will print and cut off of the take up spool, They say it reverses as needed for the cutting. I guess this is a good reason to use a genuine Roland take up. Is the VS-640 the only Roland that can cut and use the take up?
  5. take-up reel

Sure they do for about $2,094.00 minus any show specials!
  6. I have a feeling I'm being scammed on ebay

Ditto! Scam Or legit who knows or cares! The buyer is not performing according to your terms of sale. Report it to eBay so you don't have to pay the fees and keep your account clean.
  7. VS-640 issues

If the VS-640 is set up for MT ink it will prompt you at the start of each days work to remove and gently agitate the MT ink ctg.
  8. New or used VersaCAMM?

The white is around $90.00 for 220 ml and the regular colors $70 for 220 ml or bout $128 for 440 ml. Yup, they get ya coming and going. That's how it is with anything you make money with. Or boats/Airplanes!
  9. New or used VersaCAMM?

The way I understand this is that the machine won't run without the ctg slot filled. One "reported" Roland tech said that you can put cleaning carts in the wh or MT slot if you don't use that color, It is much cheaper than $250.00 or so for a Metalic silver 220 ml ctg. If you decide to use the...
  10. Ingrown Toenail

It's real easy to get them ingrown. I cut them square so the sides protrude past the toe and never scrape under the nail, scraping removes the little bit of padding and they start cutting into the toe.
  11. Restraunts menu

This looks MUCH better. I assume this is going to be a tri fold menu. Make sure you fold down a dummy sample to ensure that the finished panels are centered when folded. The gutters between each galley or panel of type need to be double the size of the left and right margin otherwise the...
  12. Segway company owner dies in apparent Segway accident

Dr Adkins? Maybe he died from a Heart attack, I dunno. Another Doctor, Dr. Atkins, of Atkins Diet Fame, died at age 72 from a head injury resulting from a fall on icy ground. :doh:Two wheeled death machines... they should make a law or something:rolleyes:

  15. Roland Eco-Sol inks?

Okay, Polyester/Mylar materials can be trouble. I have used poly, rarely, a long time ago on the HP... Coated of course.
  16. Roland Eco-Sol inks?

That is good to hear, thanks. The sales guy I have been talking with says it will print on almost anything, I learned a long time ago to not believe everything sales people tell you! My HP5500 prints on most anything you can feed into it but without the right coating in can look like poo...
  17. Roland Eco-Sol inks?

I am narrowing in on buying a Roland VS-640 with Eco-Sol CMYK, LC, LM, WH & MT inks. I have been using an HP 5500ps/UV with aqueous inks so I will need to buy a whole new set of supplies. Obviously the Roland brand media/supplies will work well with their printer but at a premium. My question...
