    I am printing my outdoor stuff with a Roland CJ-500 solvent conversion unit. My question is....should I laminate signs, graphics, on vehicles and like vision see through graphics even though it's done with solvent ink?

    The unit comes with and internal heater, located under the front platen to handle pigment ink, now I am converting to solvent ink and it needs more heat then the unit came with.

    Thanks men, I really think I can do this! I have also looked at a site called www.solventprinterconversion.com They selling conversion kits for some of the Roland printers and instructions how to do it.

    Does anyone knows how many print-heads in the sp-540v and if repairs are expensive on these machines...like print-heads and so on?

    There is a CJ-500 available to me with added heater, take-up reel and already converted to eco-solvent ink. I have seen the print test and it looked good. The seller wants $5K for it. I would be using this printer until I can afford a new one.....maybe a year or so!

    I contacted a Roland seller in Phoenix, to see if they happen to have any trade ins of any CJ printers, he told me he didn't have any of this time and even if he did,,,, he wouldn't sell it to me cause they are so out dated. He told me it wouldn't be too long before Roland will stop supporting...

    Anyone knows about this printer? it's advertised that available with UV solvent ink-head, also can print on glossy vinyl. I want to do some vehicle graphics and wondering if this printer be ok for that...Welcome your input.

    Retired general ontractor... Now I do part time architectural design work, landscape designs and small additions. Also I am working on my new E-commerce signs related website....It's going to be awesome....I am 69. I do enjoy making signs and T-shirt graphics.
