  1. New Guy New to Mimaki

So after trying to fine tune the Print/Cut without crop marks, I gave up and did the layout in Illustrator. Either I was adjusting the wrong settings, or the Tech Guy gave me the wrong info to adjust the X/Y of the cutting without Crops. I moved the X to the max + and max - positions and neither...
  2. New Guy New to Mimaki

No, I don't have Flexi, I've only ever had Rolands and VersaWorks until now. Maybe I will look into getting Flexi, is there a way to buy it without the monthly subscription? My Tech ran me through the basics, I have a pretty good grasp of the cleaning and maintenance, and know my way around...
  3. New Guy New to Mimaki

Thanks for the info on the blades, and I believe it is the "Minimize" and reverse checkmark that I was looking for! I will give it a try and see how flexible it is.
  4. New Guy New to Mimaki

Can you send me some pricing on the aftermarket blades? I had a tech in for most of today, he is guessing that the drippy print head has to do with the low humidity and the pads around the capping station which have a good amount of ink on them from the install. They've ordered new ones to...
  5. New Guy New to Mimaki

Another question about the UCJV300, how do you know the exact point on your material where the print will start, or where it will sheet cut? This was very simple on the Roland, but with the Mimaki, it never seems to print or sheet cut where I think it will, sometime it will roll forward 4 cm and...
  6. New Guy New to Mimaki

Hey, I'm not new to Signs101, but new to Mimaki! I've only used Roland ECOSOL Print/Cuts in the past. The setup of the Mimaki UCJV300 was very rough! I guess some tube came lose during shipping and some parts were defective, because setup took a week, and half a bottle of white ink all over the...
  7. Contour Cutting Window Perf

Maybe print a just a box as a template or your own crops as a template, cover them in white vinyl, roll it back, and hope the real crops print on top of the white vinyl?
  8. HUGE tip for those using the Roland Color System

I don't recall saying anything about sending a chip chart to a different que, just that you can adjust the standard settings for que A and B so that you don't have to constantly make the same changes every time you load in a new job.
  9. Need Help Does anyone have print examples of the Roalnd Eco-Sol MAX White inks?

Here are some samples printed on a VS640. And I agree, the ink is very expensive, and prints very slow. As for it being opaque, you can adjust the density of the white ink in VersaWorks.
  10. HUGE tip for those using the Roland Color System

It goes back to at least version 4.
  11. Discussion Automotive company decals

When I say ROMO in my head why is it in a dogs voice? ROMO, ROMO.
  12. HUGE tip for those using the Roland Color System

In the Edit Menu, you can edit the standard settings of Queue A and B to always have this checked, and also any other settings you may use constantly, A and/or B can be set up for your most common jobs.
  13. Fuzzy barcodes

The best solution would be a bar reduction. We've had the same artwork printed on 2 different materials, one where the code scanned perfectly, and the other where the ink tends to bleed more and makes scanning difficult, but with a bar reduction of about +4, it scans perfectly. I use software...
  14. switching ink VS540??

Yes, it's possible to switch, but I do not know how to do it personally. I do know the lines will have to be drained and cleaned completely before switching. Get in contact with a certified Roland tech and ask for some quotes.
  15. Fuzzy barcodes

Barcodes print best from a vector file, and using only black ink, not CMYK. It's true that printing the lines of the barcode in the direction of the head movement will produce the best results. A few things to try.. Printing in unidirection was a great recommendation. Rotate your image so the...
  16. Need Help Font help?

That has to be some record breaking time! Thanks!
  17. Need Help Font help?

Any one know this font? I'm still searching..
  18. XC 540 Tool carriage separates from head carriage

    Try changing the bearings. https://www.digiprint-supplies.com/en/sj-740-l-bearing-ssr15xw1uue-block-only-pmero17713
  19. Metallic Vinyl Stickers

Rtape sucks, we've used it with solvent with the same issues. Not to mention the Metallic turns to white vinyl after 3 years in the sun. I've used SMF (Select marking Films) Special Effects Film, you should be able to print to the edge with off gassing. tctpg.com in Canada carries it...
  20. Need Help Tech Question - Roland VS-640

Thanks for the input, we are probably at $3000 to $4000 now, so I guess it's time to call it quits!
