  1. Yet another illustrator question.

geeeze your picky. I was just giving you options since you're so offended to have to click on embed image. I was just tossing out other ways to not have to click embed. Write your scripts and quit asking how to do stuff in Illy if ya just wanna bag on all the help people are trying to give you...
  2. Clip from an image with illustrator

In my past job, we used corel for years. Corel draw for illustrations/images and we used Corel Ventura for brochures and our catalog. Switching to Adobe was a game changer, because InDesign is FAR superior to Corel Ventura. Plus, I was doing all of my photo editing in Adobe Photoshop (starting...
  3. Yet another illustrator question.

You can click on "embed image" then it will be permanently embedded. You can open the image through Illy, it won't be a link. You can copy paste and it won't be a link. If your linked image is just one of many elements, and the second two options I mentioned aren't ideal... then click on embed...
  4. printing for larger companies

If you want to argue the rules, and use this forum for free advertising, you could get banned. I'm just pointing out that there are a lot of Merchant Members here who PAY to advertise/sell their services. You cant just jump in and expect free advertising, and not expect other members to call...
  5. printing for larger companies

Sounds like you are trying to sell your services here. FYI You need to upgrade to a paid membership - Merchant or Premium - to do this. https://www.signs101.com/account/upgrades
  6. Map Drawing Line issue

It must be complex - in my head it seems like it would be really simple in illustrator, but I guess I'm missing something.
  7. Art Path generating cut path male/female

and what do we call this.... sort of ending....?
  8. Convincing a customer that their file is low resolution

I try too hard. it's true.
  9. Convincing a customer that their file is low resolution

If the customer is actually in our Studio, I'll show them on my screen - OR... I'll print it on my desktop printer - just the part that fits the page, I don't shrink it to fit. It will only print part of the graphic but enough to show them what the quality of the image will look like in real...
  10. Good cutter for stickers and small items? (Using Roland currently)

We have a Summa S2-Class T, Roland before that. I second Phil's recommendation - it does REALLY well with small intricate stuff.
  11. Map Drawing Line issue

That's what I was going to say - but after I looked up - ordinance survey map, I started thinking maybe he's working with a bitmap image. aaand I just re-read the OP - and he said the file was created for a plotter..... so now I'm confused why he couldn't just open it in Illy or something and...
  12. Map Drawing Line issue

Is the problem that the file is not CAD or vector in anyway - but a bitmap? My first thought would be to use photoshop select by color, copy and past into it's own later, then add the stroke there. Rinse and repeat for each color. If I understand correctly.
  13. Convincing a customer that their file is low resolution

This is exactly what I do - make it actual size, take a screenshot snippet and tell them this is how it will look printed. If your customer is questioning why they can't see the whole logo in this quality snippet.... they have much bigger issues. :roflmao:
  14. Hello from Minnesota

  15. US Tariffs, Sigh!

She died from a virus, and Hackman died from heart failure. I don't think anyone whacked them.
  16. Question Is there a way to distribute shapes like this in illustrator?

So you can "distribute objects" or "Distribute Spacing". In my example, I used "Distribute Spacing" - which puts the end boxes on the edge of the artboard. It sound like you want to distribute the objects (not the spacing). This (Distribute Objects) will create equal spacing between them, but...
  17. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I saw on the news this morning that he was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's, and he may not have been aware that his wife had passed a week ago. What about the dog? I haven't heard anything about the dog.
  18. BUMPER STICKER MATERIAL

We don't really use Oracal, but that 3640 calls out short to medium term use. I guess It depends on how long you want the bumper sticker to last. It also doesn't look like its air egress - I would opt for an air egress adhesive as it would be easier to install. We typically use 3M products, so...
  19. BUMPER STICKER MATERIAL

any calendared vinyl with permanent adhesive will do. Be sure to laminate them.
