  1. Shop Brochure...

Wow, what a great looking brochure. Joe your work always blows my mind. Allen
  2. Oracal 3165ra vs . 3Mij35c

I think 8509 is their recommended but I've yet to try it. I've only used 210G since we already had it loaded in the laminator. Allen
  3. Wood signs the Mosher way!

I have stayed out of the "Mosh Pit" thus far but I have to admit that in the past couple of days there have been some funny one-liners. Between this and the "N on the Nebraska helmets stands for knowledge" I got a good laugh. Allen
  4. Oracal 3165ra vs . 3Mij35c

Same tests here and we can't tell much of a difference. 3165RA is a bit thicker (.75 mil). You can get the 3165RA for as cheap, or cheaper, than the IJ35C...somewhere in the $0.25-$0.26 sq/ft range. Allen
  5. Radio Station, Band Logos, Copyright

Of course they want to trade for commercial time. The specifics of that will be worked out between my boss and the radio station however I never recommend trading 100% of the price of the product. If we cover the cost of materials and labor and get the remaining dollar amount in commercials...
  6. Radio Station, Band Logos, Copyright

Thanks guys. Pat - That was my thinking. I'm familiar with the ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, etc and figured there was some sort of permission in the dues the station pays to those entities. I also would hate to think a band/record label would sue a radio station that is helping to promote that...
  7. Radio Station, Band Logos, Copyright

We have a local classic rock radio station that is interested some banners and possible some other products. For the design, I'll design a background and add their existing logo. They mentioned possibly wanting to incorporate band names/logos of the music they play. I'm concerned about...
  8. Thoughts on this???

I think it looks nice but wonder if it fits the business? Seems like a lot salons go for the contemporary, youthful feel and I don't get that from this sign. I agree with sinetist that it is masculine (font, colors, straight lines) which, to me, doesn't fit well with salon and tanning. Just...
  9. Need help with large format psd files.

For Photoshop I design at full scale, 72dpi for any box truck wrap. For reference my first wrap, a 15' box truck (7' tall) file w/ lots of layers, text effects, masks, etc... is right at 1GB file size. I designed that wrap on a consumer grade Toshiba laptop w/ 2GB RAM, running Vista and...
  10. Graphtec FC8000 Test Files

I have misplaced my accessories CD for my FC8000 and need the ARMS test files? Does anyone know where they might be available? I've search Graphtec's website but found nothing. I also found a link from a previous post here on Signs 101, but that link is no longer active. Any help is greatly...
  11. Seiko 64s Ink Drops

Thanks for all the replies. I'm 99% sure the problem is banner buckling causing the heads to strike the vinyl. I'm going to try some of your suggestions as well as those from the link miltondavis provided. Thanks. Allen
  12. Thank you Vets

THANK YOU to all Sign 101 members who served for our freedom and THANK YOU to all Veterans. My grandfather served in WWII and I just wanted to share a cool wartime pic of him. He passed away in '02 and I miss him daily. Allen
  13. Seiko 64s Ink Drops

Lately our Colorpainter 64s has been dropping ink, especially on banner material. Seems like there is no consistency as to the cause. Really frustrating when it happen on the 10 ft. mark of a 12 ft. banner. I changed the head height to "high" on my banner profile and they may have helped some...
  14. Oracal 3165ra vs . 3Mij35c

I'm going through the same thing right now. $0.05 per sq/ft can make a big difference. Just received or roll of IJ35C and as soon as I burn through this roll of 3165RA, I'll give it a try. Allen
  15. printer choice

From what I've heard and read on this forum, Mutoh is making the chassis for Epson. Check out this previous thread: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39782&highlight=epson+chassis Allen
  16. Coroplast Edging

Thanks for the replies. I do realize that it is like "polishing a turd" and maybe makes no sense but a customer asked and I was trying to find an answer. I'll be the first to admit that I'm new to the industry but if a customer wants to buy a product to "dress up" a coro sign, I'm smart enough...
  17. Making the switch

I'm a long time Mac user (from back in the Performa days). My previous job I did a lot of video editing and graphics on a Mac, I use Mac at home, and have a Nehalem Mac Pro now as my main design computer at my current job. I don't want to get into a "which is better argument" but Mac just...
  18. Wyld Grand Format Imaging

Just wanted to give a public thanks to Bill and crew at Wyld Grand Format Imaging. I was talking with Mike at Merritt about a couple of large banners but when it became apparent that I didn't give them ample time to complete the job, Mike recommended Bill and Wyld GFI. Bill went above and...
  19. Coroplast Edging

I have searched for a product that will cover the edges of Coroplast and haven't had much luck. I have seen the Alumacor end caps in the Grimco catalog and I'm wondering if there is something similar for Coroplast? Either something like that or possible a rubber type edging. I just had a...
  20. Guitarists - Gear

The post I've been waiting for. Music is my passion and even my degree is in music. Here we go. BTW, I worked 5+ years for a music retail store so it helps when you get good discounts. 1992 Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite 2000 Martin D-35 (w/ LR Baggs I-Beam Pickup) Yamaha LL-6 acoustic (w/...
