  1. Help ID these fonts

These fonts were sent to me by a client who told me they were "Calamity Jane". One of them is clearly a bolder version of "Calamity Jane" by Nick's Fonts, but I can't find a bolder version. It's possible the client added the stroke weight but I doubt it. Nick's Fonts does not have a heavier...
  2. Pricing and Shop Software

What is ShopVox? Is it a simpler version of SignVox? Does it require as much setup time as ShopVox?
  3. Adobe Creative Cloud Fail

I have decided that trying to work with Adobe to subscribe to Creative Could is so frustrating it's bad for my health. My blood pressure can only take so much. They have proven that they are not to be trusted with hooks into my checking account. What alternatives do I have? When are they...
  4. Will Roland ColorRIP run on Windows 7?

We have a thirteen year old Roland CJ540 printer/cutter driven by a Wasatch RIP branded by Roland as ColorRIP. Shortly after this machine came out it was replaced by the SJ540 and the RIP was replaced by VersaWorks. ColorRIP was orphanced and as a result, you hear very little about it. Our...
  5. font help?

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that.
  6. font help?

    Do you recognize this font?
  7. Smalts help please

Because smalt is not available in PMS 688C, isn't it likely that the smalt was applied first and then painted? Wouldn't this work with Matthews?
  8. What is this bracket called

And where do you get it? It's incredibly popular, but I don't even know what it's called. Wall panel bracket? I used to buy them from California, but as you can see in the picture, they rusted after only two years. I'd prefer stainless steel ones or ones where the paint doesn't flake off...
  9. What's "straight" on a van?

I've been lettering trucks for years and always found a line to use as "level" or positioned the letttering by eye so it looks level. I figure if it looks level, it is level. I've also had many installers working for me over the years and their work always looked straight to me so I never...
  10. Fish Images

Is anyone aware of a good library of high quality images of various fish? Just this week we have had a need for four different fish, and each was needed in a different "pose" (jumping, profile, swimming, etc.) based on the layout. We use these for boat lettering images and people who fish are...
  11. omega "weld" function

Going from memory, I think it's called "Contour" in Omega, under the Effects menu.
  12. Commercial version of "Bad Films" font?

Thank you for the courtesy of such a quick reply. Paul
  13. Commercial version of "Bad Films" font?

A customer is asking me to use a font for their boat which is available as a free font called "Bad Films". Does anyone know where to buy a commercial version of this font?
  14. Customer specifying color, and I'm not sure it will work. Paint help

Matthews Paint and I'm sure many others can match Sherwin Williams colors (and Benjamin Moore and PMS). It's available premixed by the quart from sign supply dealers. Nasty two part paint, so if you try it, use all safety precautions.
  15. Alternative to Matthews Paint on PVC due to fading

We spray directly to the PVC without a primer and don't use a clear coat. I've had bad luck with clear coats and am reluctant to add the cost and time to every project. I don't mind using a primer if that would extend the life, I just don''t see how it would. Once the paint cures, it adheres...
  16. Alternative to Matthews Paint on PVC due to fading

What two part epoxy primer do you use?
  17. Alternative to Matthews Paint on PVC due to fading

We've been painting PVC with Matthews Paint for years because it looks good, has a nice satin finish and dries quickly. Lately we've been replacing one or two signs in a series of previously painted signs and are shocked at how much the paint has faded. What do you recommend for painting PVC...
  18. Windows no longer recognizes Edge

Tony, Glad to hear from you. I'm sure Windows ran an update that I didn't need or want. All our other computers are Macs, so I'm a bit lost on PCs. I just swapped our Edge II for an Edge LE that we also have but haven't been using and the LE works. Windows XP is looking for the drivers...
  19. Windows no longer recognizes Edge

We've been running a Gerber Edge on the same Windows PC for years. Today the PC doesn't recognizes the Edge. From GSPlot we get a blinking error message requiring us to "terminate" or "restart" (which seem to have the effect to me). When I reboot the PC I get a "Found New Hardware" wizard...
  20. Durable Outdoor Exhibit Graphics

What material/process would you recommend for an outdoor exhibit, short of using interpretive sign systems? We've had limited success with laminated solvent prints on either MDO or DiBond and even less with direct UV prints. The solvent prints have either lifted enough at the edges to cause a...
