  1. XC-540 SolJet printing horizontal lines

I have a Soljet II xc540, and when I get banding problems it's usually something to do with the rip. Try setting the profile to "Density control only" instead of Prepress US. Also, try using one of the provided profiles from Roland, Mine start with [RIPC] use this profile on high quality...
  2. Setting up shop at a merchandise show.. any advise?

Okay, here's the verdict guys. I went friday for setup, worked saturday and sunday. Each vendor was purchased a "vendor name" sign for their booth, so people checked in with me all day friday. These signs were paid for by the show (I invoiced them). Then, the house had me make 8 4x8 printed...
  3. Setting up shop at a merchandise show.. any advise?

You guys are thinking pretty much the same things i've been thinking. :/ Sigh... With all the comments, I've decided to scale back and pack even lighter, so at least when it's a total waste of time, I didn't have to pack up my entire shop to do it. :p I'll let you all know how it went.
  4. Setting up shop at a merchandise show.. any advise?

That's kind of what I figured too, but there is a guy at another local show that's had a booth for 10+ years, I wonder why he's still there?
  5. Setting up shop at a merchandise show.. any advise?

I was contacted by a friend who's producing a merchandise show (like a swap meet, but all new crap, no used crap). lol He wanted an on-site sign maker to maker to produce on-demand vendor name/booth number signs. I'm charging him minimal for the vendor name signs, but he told me I will have...
  6. kudos on the BIG SQUEEGEE

Agree! I got my big squeegee a few weeks ago, and I can't believe how well it works! I can't believe I waited this long to get one.
  7. Corner protectors for Coroplast?

Thanks for the link! Is PVC easy to cut? I have a hand-e-cut, will that cut it? (score/crack)?
  8. Corner protectors for Coroplast?

    Lol, I did. He won't
  9. Corner protectors for Coroplast?

He wants a "showable" solution, not just for shipping.
  10. Corner protectors for Coroplast?

I have a customer that's requesting corner protectors for the Coroplast signs I make for him. I can't find any at any of the vendors I buy from, does anyone know a source for these? I'm thinking of a small triangle plastic or metal corner that I could maybe squirt a little glue into and push...
  11. Stretch an image with a "safe zone"?

I read an article recently, and can't find it now.. it was a tutorial on how to stretch the edges of an image to fit a canvas while defining a "safe zone" basically a critical area of an image that won't be distorted during the stretch.. Anyone have any ideas? PS CS4. Thanks. -Dom
  12. Roland service bullitin - Cap Tops (consumable)

So is it the dealers responsibility to call me and say "hey your cap tops need to be replaced?" If I'm not supposed to take a cover off, and the manual doesn't even explain what a cap top is, how is the end user supposed to know there there's a new "need" to have a part replaced at a specific...
  13. Roland service bullitin - Cap Tops (consumable)

Just spoke with my rep, Rolands sending out new cap tops N/C, and there has been an order placed for a set of carts (we'll see if it goes through or not). :-) They've also assured me that they are going to investigate why no one was TOLD that the cap tops need to be replaced! I want to make...
  14. Roland service bullitin - Cap Tops (consumable)

I just encountered a NIGHTMARE of printing problems on my 2 year old XC540! I started dropping colors, having heads drying up etc. The machine has lite use, and get's cleaned weekly. My dealer finally came out and spent 4 hours drawing ink down from the dampers with a syringe, replaced all...
  15. NO M... at all on one head. XC540

Sounds like a winner to me! What do you mean jiggle the carrige? Like the entire print carrige (assembly that holds the heads and moves back and forth)? isn't it bad to put pressure on this? Obviously I wouldn't be wrenching on it, but I figured since the servo's hold it in a particular spot...
  16. NO M... at all on one head. XC540

Well the head came back, we replaced the cap-top, and it took a while to start taking ink, we also swapped the hoses on the pumps to make sure I didn't have a pump going out. Strange. We can't figure out what caused it, since the tech even said the captop we replaced looked perfect.
  17. NO M... at all on one head. XC540

Yeah, except sometimes, it's every OTHER week. The most I've ever let it go without cleaning was 2 weeks when I was out of town, but the main/sub power were on.
  18. XC540 with White

Maybe I'm not asking right... MY machine is set up as CMYK right now, so I have 2 of each color heads.. If I set the machine up to use white ink, I can still run 4 color jobs as normal, but only use the white as needed... right? If I set it up to use white, since there's less heads...
  19. NO M... at all on one head. XC540

I did a test print tonight, and to my dismay, the M head in the #1 block is completely blank, nothing printed for M! I don't use my machine very much, I print maybe 4 jobs a month (lately), but I try to at least fire it up once a week, and I clean it a lot. I did 2 powerful cleanings, and as...
  20. XC540 with White

How much speed do you lose? My rep told me it'll cut the speed at least in half, and speed is the reason I bought the XC in the first place.
