I saw your other post about the top roller heating problem. I can't help you with that issue, but I'll bet that Bill Moxley can. His number is [deleted]. He helped me with advice and parts for my Seal Image 400.
Super nice guy. When you call, make sure you have time for a friendly chat...
Usually with floor graphics you use butt seams instead of overlaps, since the raised overlaps will wear faster, and the raised seam edges are more easily lifted by scuffing, possibly causing a tripping hazard. But for a 4-5 day installation, overlapped seams are probably fine.
With a graphic...
If it's a genuine HP cartridge, you may be able to get a replacement under warranty. I have in the past when this happened on my Z6100. (And it happened all too often!!)
Narrowed it down to the valve.
Shoutout to Lux who helped identify the issue, and to Mark Snelling who connected me with Bill Moxley. Bill is a super nice guy and he's sending the part I need.
Thanks Lux! This is very useful info! I'm also hearing a click from the solenoid. Time to dig deeper. I'll disassemble the valve and see if it needs cleaning.
YES to all of these:
Jig
Laser level (green laser is much brighter than orange)
3M Command Strips
Attached are a couple of photos of an exhibit with 200 evenly-spaced panels. These were all prints on vinyl mounted to 1/4" PVC, and put on the wall with 16-lb Command Strips. The second photo...
Thanks Lux!!
Before you bother taking resistance and voltage readings, let me know if you have a plug in the threaded socket that I circled in green. From the appearance of the threads, it looks like there used to be a plug there. Air is escaping through this hole.
If you don't have a plug...
Problem with an older (circa 1998) pneumatic Seal Image 400 laminator. Either the air control solenoid is bad, or I'm missing a plug.
I'm hoping someone can send a photo of the inside of the left interior, or at least tell me whether a plug is missing from the threaded socket circled in green...
3M 3645 is also our go-to for long-term floor graphics. Expensive, but extremely durable. Been using it for over 20 years. We installed a 300 sq ft floor graphic in January, and it still looks like new despite high traffic and daily cleaning.
Haven't had this problem with my Latex 365 yet, but it was a major problem on my Designjet Z6100, which has a similar ink cartridge system. I had to replace the entire Ink Supply Tubes And Trailing Cable Assembly. If your printer is under warranty, contact HP.
I also had problems trying to print any brand of perf on my 365. It would buckle in the heater and get scratched. I finally realized that the buckling was caused by too much tension in the take-up reel. Because the take-up reel is not perfectly parallel with the feed, it was sending a wave back...
Here in Virginia it's been weirdly orange and hazy. My son mentioned that "the whole sky looks like BladeRunner 2049." Yesterday the setting sun was apocalyptic, and later, Venus looked like Mars. Better today though.
The idea that global warming is causing the fires seems pretty far-fetched to...
You're right, I hadn't noticed that. With a 10% off coupon, I can make back that $25 pretty quickly. And probably enough to cover my travel expenses as well!
Harbor has been one of my favorite suppliers for 25 years, so I'd like to go, but it's a long drive from Richmond. Also, they're charging $25 to attend. That doesn't make me feel like a VIP.
