  1. VS-540 Substance UltraCurve Profile?

That media product looks like a competitive offering to Convex media. I assume that you are building your own profiles for this media, as the manufacturer does not currently publish any via their web site. What challenges are you seeing on the VS that you're not having on the VP?
  2. HP l26500 Error Code 93:10

This error is related to the pressurization of the Ink Delivery System.
  3. HP latex printers - Maintenance required when not in use?

I don't work for HP, but I do train on and support a number of users of HP Latex printers, among others.
  4. L25500 Horizontal Banding

I assume that by horizontal you are referring to banding in the carriage scan direction, and not the media movement direction. Not sure what you mean by the Universal error code (79.04 is an undefined error). What does your nozzle test print look like (Ink Menu > Image Quality Maintenance >...
  5. DesignJet L26500 - Waving on print? Help

I suspected that the media is the culprit in this case. The only thing I would add is that the roll is not really defective, as all PVC vinyl banner is made with plasticizers to provide flexibility. These plasticizers eventually move to the print surface (migrate) and can cause print artifacts...
  6. DesignJet L26500 - Waving on print? Help

Those are marks from the printer's feel rollers. On PVC banner media, this is often caused by plasticizer migration. Try this: remove the media from the printer, and clean it well using Isopropyl Alcohol (use a side-to-side motion from one edge to the other to avoid merely moving the...
  7. HP latex printers - Maintenance required when not in use?

Because HP latex ink is water-based, the printer can sit without being used for extended periods of time without a problem. I have had several, and all have had extended periods of non-use (up to several weeks in duration), and all have printed perfectly afterwards with no user intervention. The...
  8. Mimaki printers - Maintenance required when not in use?

Any solvent ink printer performs best when used often and resularly, and extended periods of non-use is a bad thing. Most solvent printer manufacturers recommend at least printing a nozzle test each day in order to keep the ink moving just a little bit in the ink train. Most solvent printers...
  9. GS6000 and 16 pass

Those changes would need to be made in the Media Manager module of Onyx. You would likely copy an existing print mode and make the changes to the copy. You really should build an entirely new print mode when making a dramatic change to pass counts like this (8 to 16 pass).
  10. Gray prints grainy

Check your bi-directional calibrations. In photos and many process color vector scenarios, grays produced using all four inks CMYK, and not only K. Some of the Roland Color System grays are however based on percentage of K only, and this can tend to produce a more banded result, depending on the...
  11. Roland vs Mimaki vs HP vs Epson

Full Page Conversion Mode does not rasterize the entire file the way that Print as Image would. It changes to a common Rendering Intent for both types of data, but does not rasterize vector data.
  12. Roland vs Mimaki vs HP vs Epson

The ability to handle transparency effects is dependent on several factors, including the color engine that the RIP uses (Adobe CPSI/ APPE, Jaws, Ghostscript, etc), and your specific color settings that are defined in the RIP. Typically, using different rendering intents for raster and vector...
  13. Roland vs Mimaki vs HP vs Epson

There is a lot to cover with this. Re the printheads, you are correct in that the Roland and Mimaki machines that you are referencing use Epson printheads. The cost is dependent on the printhead model being used: DX5/6 printheads are 8-channel heads, and cost ~$2600 when purchasing from the...
  14. Which perforated vinyl do "you use" with Hp latex machines and why?

Make sure that the perf is a paper-backed product. Cellulose backed media tends to react poorly to the heat that the Latex machine puts off.
  15. x6 color or dual x4 color configuration

Light inks (lc and lm) do not produce a wider gamut, but they may provide higher image quality in highlights and quarter tones. Their presence will slow down the throughput, but I don't know the specifics. Roland may publish those numbers on their site.
  16. Vinyl

Look for physically thicker calendared vinyl, for example General Formulations Concept 222, which is a 6 mil face stock film. Other manufacturers make similar products. The extra rigidity that the thicker face stock provides makes customer-installed decals much easier to apply.
  17. Printing banner 13 oz banner vinyl with or without heat

I would agree with this. Banner media can sometimes be prone to head strikes due to heat, so if you are able to adhere and dry the ink with lower (or no) heat, then go for it.
  18. As an Adobe user, I'm in shock!

    Now that's funny.
  19. More Roland Headaches

I am confused. Is the media moving laterally (walking) on the printer platens, or is the printed output stair-stepping on the media (or both)?
  20. Banding on Epson SC 30600

In many of not most RIPs, media feed compensation and distance correction are entirely separate functions from each other.
