  1. Finecut 7 and Corel X3

Thanks Neil, yeah everything's set right, remote etc. Thing is, had a tech here setting up our router and she also sets up Mimaki printers and plotters. She got out her laptop with Vista and ran it through Illustrator and got the same error. Tells me it's possibly firmware but what the heck, I'm...
  2. When not include Crop Marks in printed output?

Almost always use full-bleeds on printed layouts anymore. Textures, graduated shades, oversize the 4'x8' print by 1/2'' all the way around and hand trim it after application, no reason to plot it (waste of time). Just sayin'
  3. Aaaaaaaaaaargh PopUP material

No gray area, we both now the answer to that. At the best they replace the material, labor-ink-reputation:frustrated:... all costs that'll never never be recovered. I fee your pain, been there. As far as VPOSpro, maybe it's overpriced for a reason, if you've got a Cadillac you don't sell it for...
  4. Aaaaaaaaaaargh PopUP material

Go back to the PosPRO, is it really worth the hassle? Sorry, I go back to the days when there was 3M or 3M. There's so many companies putting out so much stuff, and I honestly believe they don't have a clue (or care) whether it'll preform in the field, they just start making excuses. I've seen...
  5. me too Font ID

http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/case-study-no-one-lt/heavy-italic/. Sorry dude, this is as close as I can come. Looks like somebody turned his artist cousin loose with a lettering brush, or maybe a crayon. That's not the worst "Shtuf" I've seen but... Anyway, try to talk them into an...
  6. nice layout

If it's not now (painted) it will be. That's a whole different level, these guys are purists. Look around their website, they're in it totally for the design and technique. Makes me proud to be in the same business, not nearly the same level:noway: but I can always dream can't I?.
  7. Maintenance JV33

Maybe "Mature" sounds better (for some reason I think "Big" Girl will get me in trouble, Big Person?). Anyway I digress, are they always clogged or do they start working after they've been used a while. The head we just had to replace on our JV3 had a few nozzles that would clog first thing in...
  8. JV3 160 Print Issues

Just trying to think of all the possibilities... Is that head newer or older than the other ones? How long ago did you switch to Nazdar Inks? If it was within the last year I would suspect the ink, the pigment in the "non-OEM" inks are not ground as finely as the OEM inks increasing the...
  9. JV3 160 Print Issues

If you don't mind me asking, what brand of ink are you using?
  10. Maintenance JV33

Noticed know one else has posted (also notice if you're not in their little clique you're kind of ignored, that's alright, we're all big boys, at least some of us). Our JV3 went 6 years before we had to replace a head, still going with 2 original heads (purchased in 2003). If you do regular...
  11. Finecut 7 and Corel X3

:helpHELP! We've been running our plotter with Finecut3 out of Corel 11 for years, when we upgraded to Corel X3 boss didn't want to upgrade Finecut so we've been printing out of X3 to our JV3 and if something has to be contour cut we have to bring it into 11 (pain in the arss). Just got Finecut...
  12. Suburban Truck Wrap

:thumb:Nice work. (Waldow? I saw Waldo but that must be his other brother Waldow)
  13. Customer's Geometry FAIL

Absolutely, I always show them and have them sign off on a paper print out exactly what it's gonna looks like. If they're happy, I'm happy.:Big Laugh
  14. Thinking about a storefront. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Personally I would keep looking, unless you want to limit yourself. Nothing worse than moving in and six months later you really wish you'd found that store front with the side parking lot so you could do that big box van you just had to turn down. Just sayin' :Oops:can be a pain, been there.
  15. Buying a used plotter ... what should i ask/need to know before

Read the thread from NCR Grafitti, and then find out how willing he is to stand behind his equipment (her post really ticked me off). If not, go directly to a reputable dealer, new or used. The good people on this site can refer you to a few. You're investing a few thousand, don't get...

  17. New to signmaking, cant get hardware to work, please help

I don't know about anyone else on here, but if I sold a piece of equipment I would be there to make sure it worked.... Unless I gave it away I would feel obligated, 2 hours away or not. That said, your getting lots of time tested advice here that sounds good. Not having any experience with this...
  18. my printer did something weird today

Same thing has happened to us. How many here have had to unplug their modem or router.... plug it back in and it works, power supplies on message center radio units.... unplug them, plug them back in and it works. Computers freeze up and have to be rebooted. Why shouldn't the same thing happen...
  19. hello frrom Texas

Welcome from Ill-inois (from Missouri originally). And as far as being old... I'd say you're in pretty good company around here:Welcome:
  20. Text length limited in Corel 10

:thumb:on the convert to curves, I've had the same trouble with X3 when going over 30'' on letter height.
