Yah I was looking into pursuing CAD design but remembered that there wasn't a good offering for the mac... I did some googling and discovered that AutoDesk finally jumped on the wagon and are releasing a fully native mac version of AutoCAD... looks pretty sweet from what I've seen so far :)...
Not too mention, I just read that AutoCAD for Mac will be out this fall... shows how much Mac is catching on in the real world... when companies like AutoDesk want to make a native version for Mac after being strictly PC based for their entire existence thus far.
I majored in Computer Tech...
Illusion I love the new logo layout, what is that font you used for "Sign Shop" because that looks great! I'm not very good at logo design at this stage in the game myself and I have a lot too learn but if I were you I would feel pretty darn good about that latest logo :) Even if you continue...
Thanks for all the tips! I ended up getting some Klean Strip brand Adhesive Remover and that took everything off including the paint :) I talked with the owner and he said do what ever you need to just respray with some semi-gloss and put the new decals on...
I took a pic after I removed...
I think i'll run to Lowes and grab some Flooring Adhesive remover... if that stuff removes flooring adhesive then this vinyl stuff should be a damn breeze! Says it works on metal and many other surfaces... fingers crossed :)
Let me know if anyone else has any ideas.
Thanks!
yes i tried heat, forgot to mention that... got up there with a torch and all it seems to do is make it stick even worse... it's insane the stuff is like super glue... if the old letters did stand out so much I'd be able to just go over it but in this case it's so clear its as if the letters are...
I'm lettering a logging truck and the original lettering on the boom was removed to put the new companies web address... The boom is steel similar to an I-beam I got the lettering off but the adhesive stayed behind and will not come off! I tried Vinyl Off, CRC Super Citrus, PB Blaster Decal &...
Thanks for the info everyone, GypsyGraphics I'll ask my Oracal dealer about the class, they usually will put stuff like that together and host it for their customers so I will ask them if they can look into getting one together.

I've been doing a lot more wrap jobs and I would like to get some professional training to learn how to better wrap vehicles and what not. Any thoughts or experience with different schools or seminars? There are so many out there I want to do some research.
Well the car actually looks like crap... it's a daily driver and it shows, has scratches all over it so an imperfection wouldn't show but I'm hoping to not have any :) Looks like the vinyl cost is around $14 per yard at 27" wide so materials won't be bad just the labor to put it on depending on...
I have a client that wants the chrome trim on his VW wrapped in Matte Black. I plan on using Hexis HX3000 as they will sell me partial rolls and they also have smaller roll size available other than 54" :)
Just curious what range I should be in for this, I was estimating around $350. There...
Yah scanning will naturally keep the scale... taking a photo will not.
The 8.5 X 11 does work well with small stuff but good luck fitting anything larger ;)
It's not rocket science just trial and error and depending how picky you are a lot of node tweaking for the perfect fit.
Gave it a shot, so far not too bad... just need to tweak the vector here and there to get it just right... There must be an easier way to scale it in Illy though. I created a 1 inch block and then kept enlarging the photo until my drawn scale lined up with it... Be nice if there was a...
Thanks signage! I remembered that post once I started reading it :) I need to figure out how to scale accurately in Illustrator once i've imported the photo... off to do some research :)
Jilli what Im trying to do is lay material over an item and trace it to produce a template that I can then scan into the computer and use for designing for example an xbox or playstation console etc... but on a more difficult scale like dirt bike plastic.
I have been searching for a good material to use for creating templates, hardest part is finding something that you can conform to a curve or what not but then be able to remove it without it stretching... I've been looking at sandblast mask as this removes well and appears to be fairly solid...
was bummed out...signed up for this but it fell right on the day after we had major rain up here and I had to get my basement squared away after 3 inches of water :(
They were really cool though and still sent me my free sample roll and other give away items from the event.
