  1. Gerber Maxx 2 Is it worth buying?

To the Maxx Gerber has ceased all support for this printer and the last I heard was trading people out of them for Edges. However, owning a DC-4 (54") I can atest that without any overlam, the output will last over 4 years in Florida. A solvent print on vinyl without an overlam will not go...
  2. How to apply existing poster to foamcore?

mounting to fomeboard This is the bulk of our business. There are 2 boards with the name Ultramount. The one you want is Ultramount Peel 'N Stick. Comes in white and black. We have 2 GBC laminators for mounting/laminating. Have switched to AGL for all materials. We stock the doublefaced...
  3. FDC Film

FD Let's C We have used it for years as the standard film for our Summa DC-4. I have just bought a used JV3-160SP and will try it in that as well. At about .26 a square foot it is hard to beat for short term outdoor signage. We offer a 1 year warranty on products we make with it.
  4. Graphtec FC4100-130 ? Got me stumped....

the PLOT thickens....... We use a USB to Serial adapter (Staples/Office Depot $30) It creates a serial port 1 upon insertion. Use the settings the last guy listed, they are pretty important. Also check the setup for the plotter as some you have to tell them what port to use for input.
  5. UV printer for high-quality art photography printing

"High Quality"? What do you mean by high quality? A former post was saying UV Flatbed does not yet approach the quality you get from your Canon. I agree. Still for you there is a much bigger question...who will fix it? Whatever direction you end up going, and geez I can't believe how smart...
  6. Too much in receivables

As a percentage of sales I have clients that have $200,000 a month in receivables! Is that a lot? Not if sales are $2 million a month. It would be a huge help with this if members would tell us what the percentage of sales their receivables are. Right now ours are about 25%. Maybe high...
  7. Go... Pound... Sand...

You're welcome All I really have left to give. Free makes it a bargain.
  8. Art Charges

No art charges ever! This is not a problem. If you use only one font.....Impact, you can squeeze it, stretch it, it looks good almost every way. On a 4x8 you take a line out to 94", gotta leave room for the sign to "breathe", on a 18x24 you can take it a little tighter, say 23.5. Okay, it is...
  9. Go... Pound... Sand...

Leave a way out for customer In just under 40 years of doing this there are 3 occasions (that I can remember) where I said to a customer standing in our showroom, "excuse me", took him by the arm, and walked him outside. After getting them out of earshot I told them to not return. "I'm sure...
  10. can you remove a print? from a uv flatbed?

add this imfo For head strike and overspray, assuming that is the issue, a Magic Eraser will clean it off and not hurt the other print around it.
  11. Outlining vs just drop shadowed letters, on dark or black back ground

Who cares? Only the 3 and 13 need to be switched to create an "official" tournament 8 Ball rack. After you fix it, post another picture so we can all get some rest. Kudos that you can still hand paint.
  12. Have I confused you?

Yes, yes, RasterLink. Have the firewire card installed, the Mimaki drivers and the color profiles. Thanks to your valuable input seems I have just 2 choices. Read the dang instructions or call Mr. Fujitas' personal line at Mimaki and ask him why it won't load. I am doing this alongside...
  13. Burned out

Simple first steps Hello and hope you are settling in with your first attempt. If you have the room on a wall, 4x8 tub and tile board from an improvement store is inexpensive and the same material write-on-wipe-off boards are made of. Use auto striping or cut vinyl. We use different colors...
  14. Have I confused you?

Just jump right in. I just bought a JV-3 160SP for a great price. The deal was made even better because it included Wasatch 5.1. Even better was the inclusion of $300 roll of media and $1600 inks. Noticed when I got back to Tallahassee that there were 3 copies of RasterPrint included, 4.1, 4.5...
