Sounds like the points aren't closed, it treats each line segment separately. Select the nodes with the shape tool and then close path under arrange, that will make it one continuous path. Dave

If the materials warping it has to be either heat or reaction to the solvent, since it's not the heat I'd say you have a material problem.
