  1. Substrate question

Dumb tidbit, the Epcot ball is clad in ACM. It's a flammable material but available in fire resistant varieties. I think that's what caused that high rise fire in the UK to get out of control a few years ago.
  2. Substrate question

Likely so. I have a customer that calls it galvanized, it drives me nuts. Like saying "pop" instead of soda, bet Stacey uses that one.
  3. Retirement almost lasted...

They do say that working when you want to is much better than working when you need to I'd love to have a retired sign guy to help out here
  4. On a scale of 1 to 10

I laugh out loud at my own jokes, even when they are in my head. Does that make me crazy or a douche?
  5. On a scale of 1 to 10

I am always thinking and get mad when people interrupt the conversation that I have going on in my head. True story
  6. Input on choosing a new printer

I would buy another mimaki. If I could have 2, one would be the UCJV300 and the other a regular JV150 or CJV150, maybe a JV300 but I'm not real keen on 2 heads. My concern with only having the UCJV would be with laminating, I haven't seen a real consistent review of how the raised ink does...
  7. Does anyone else hate online reviews?

There is something that I have been learning and concluding as I get older and get the feeling that this is not some sort of unique epiphany. When you are younger and starting out, you will go to the end of the earth to make customers happy which does pay off. Nights, weekends, give up...
  8. Complaint Department...

It all depends on what you can afford to keep your sanity. Everytime I get really mad I tell myself that a year is taken off my life expectancy. What's that worth to me? If I'm already mad then it's on, if I'm not there yet but it's coming, I just eat it and the relief that it's all over...
  9. Substrate question

paint grip is bonderized steel, its a phosphate coating similar to galvanizing but it will accept paint without any substantial prep work.
  10. Which vinyl should be good to avoid these failures

Dude, that never happens. When it does, you just blame it on the car wash or the cleaning lady.
  11. Substrate question

Who is gonna roll that rectangular tube at the top? No offense but if you are capable of building the frame then you should be capable of building it to hold whatever face material that you want. If you tack flatbar around the inside perimeter and flat bar or angle up and down for rear support...
  12. CAN SOMEONE SCHOOL ME ON ROLLING AND PACKING UP LARGE FORMAT PRINTS FOR SHIPPING, any videos or tutorials out there?

You have to be careful about paper sticking to an unlaminated print. For this, the slick side of vinyl backer would be my go to. When our paint shop is slammed, we use it to mask paint that is fairly fresh in order to spray a second color. Also use it on truck decks to walk in if the primer...
  13. Party bulletin posted in Lunchroom

The prize had better be good

2345? Really? Weak. 2000 was a good one, page 100 was pretty good too.
  16. Which vinyl should be good to avoid these failures

It looks more like an install failure
