  1. How do I print to a pdf or export from Production Manger with opus marks?

I used to have a monthly subscription. With that subscription I had unlimited tech support. Have you contacted them?
  2. Buying A Sign Business

Does the sellers business add product offerings to what you already produce else your buying his customer list and possibly duplicating equipment. That's one consideration.
  3. Need wholesalers

    I use signs365.
  4. I Just Have To Vent

    Agree.
  5. I Just Have To Vent

I just wanted to take a moment to update on this thread. I reviewed the proof that the customer OK'd. It was for computer cut vinyl and an aluminum faced panel (alumalite). Customer has contacted me requesting a 'substantial discount' (her words) or a new sign - all on me. When I think I've...
  6. I Just Have To Vent

You're thinking of a reasonable customer. She'll see every pop in the lamination and be upset. As for the other bubbles: although true that they will dissipate over time, this will not work with this particular customer.
  7. I Just Have To Vent

Yeah, I agree with you. I've had time to think about it and if the issue arises it will be this week or next.
  8. I Just Have To Vent

I was taking a long shot and hoping to get money back from the distributor for the failure to follow instructions. They gave my customer their name and their prices and this distributor is the type that would deal direct and bypass me. Well, at the end of the day I cut my margins and still made...
  9. I Just Have To Vent

No laminator. If I do it, it will be by hand and I'll probaby do a wet application. I haven't done a wet application in years and I don't remember if the darn liquid will dissipate with a laminate on the print or if its even advisable to do a wet application with a laminated vinyl. I'll have to...
  10. what in the actual hell!.....

The part I find nasty is that its like there's nobody there except for an automated system and then they let you know that you will either get paid or you will not. The rest of it sounds like they just want to know that you've gotten there and left so they know how long the job took. Could this...
  11. I Just Have To Vent

Yeah, I didn't think print when we first spoke. I was thinking replacement of entire sign. Outsourced prints with lamination (2) will be $150. Customer looks the sign over with an eagle eye so I'll have to be perfect in my application of the print.
  12. I Just Have To Vent

I used to have the HP printer. I sold it and haven't replaced it. You have a good memory. The challenge for me is laying down two 4x6 digital prints without 1 bubble. This customer inspects with a microscope. I can get the two 4x6 prints with shipping and lamination for $150. Hopefully, I can...
  13. I Just Have To Vent

Yeah, for the first part it does take a bit of trust. But, I can live with it as it's a one off customer. I don't expect to be doing business for a long time The CC vinyl is a bit rough but I've been through conversations with the customer explaining that I would be using vinyl lettering. The...
  14. I Just Have To Vent

I outsource all my printing now and it's two sides. So at first, I looked at redoing the sign by purchasing the substrate printed and having it shipped to me. Now that you mention it, I can have the print made a lot cheaper and just remove the vinyl and reapply. I have the print priced at $150...
  15. I Just Have To Vent

Yup. Sign is paid for. The proof does read CC Vinyl and it was never questioned. I'm not typically a guy who likes to play hardball but then again I priced a printed sign and it's going to cost me $460 Edit:: If I purchase just the prints (need 2) and have them laminated it would cost $150...
  16. I Just Have To Vent

The past two days have 'sign-wise' have just been miserable. Two customers and two problems. First problem was that I had a post shipped direct to a customer. It's one of those steel posts 17 ft long. In my phone call to the manufacturer I say this is a drop ship please do not put any packing...
  17. To Mask or not to Mask

Thanks. I was moving in that direction.
  18. To Mask or not to Mask

    Hi Gino, It's 5ft x 20 inches high. It's not really big.
  19. To Mask or not to Mask

I have a laminated print that I am going to apply to alumalite. Typically I would mask the print and then apply it but I'm thinking that since it has a laminate on it that it is as good as masked. The question is should I mask the vinyl or can I apply the vinyl as-is because it has a PSA...
  20. How do you handle color matching with clients?

Most times you've got to set the customer's expectations when selling the project. Colors are not easy and although I'm glossing over what I do I think you'll get the point. Eventually, you'll figure out what's best for your business. I have mostly local customers and do two different things...
