  1. What type of printing process is being used?

Not that the following link has any credibility, but whoever wrote the article(ette) is claiming aqueous pigment aswell. http://www.coolhunting.com/culture/woodsnap That said, I have a VJ1204 I am very heavily considering modifying into a flatbed printer flowing bordeaux latex through a DX5.
  2. Help!! What happened and why!?!?!?!

I have had really good luck with Bordeaux ink sold by premiercolour. OEM inks are not going to save you from the 1/1,000,000 strike of bad luck where some component like a seal fail and allows pressure to drop or what looks like build in this case. Others ragging 3rd party inks are of the same...

  4. Non-OEM Head (Epson 1400, 1900, etc.) in a ValueJet - Possible?

    Interesting, thanks!
  5. Non-OEM Head (Epson 1400, 1900, etc.) in a ValueJet - Possible?

Is there a specific crack card you would suggest for locked DX5 heads? And can you confirm the water-based heads perform OK on solvent ink?
  6. Dx 5 printhead F18600

I have a water-based DX5 epson head in my 9800 that I was considering swapping into my Mutoh VJ1204, who all has actually done a similar swap? Are the solvent DX5 heads not "locked", but the water based ones require an unlocker chip? Will this work within spec and produce like quality?
  7. FIRMWARE VEr. 1.22 neede MUTOH VJ-1204

As does mine, but on my other fw it would not reset on the init count reset. It is clearly something that was patched in later fw.
  8. E074Err CR2 Current-Error

I have seen this error when the wiper blade gets bound up. This can be observed with that cover off and assuring the wiper fully rests to the right after a cleaning cycle. Either needs grease or is out of alignment.
  9. I Broke my VJ1204

Dear lord, you haven't done any P.M. on this, ever have you? You need to clean this mess off before you do anything, I can't even tell what I am looking at... It looks like you removed the inside track from the capping station which has the safety on the side. That isn't supposed to be removed...
  10. Somebody f#@ked up!!

[QUO TE=graphicwarning;1215369]Reminds me of this one... FFS >_<
  11. I Broke my VJ1204

Remove far right side cover by removing 4 fine thread metal screws, 2 course thread plastic screw, and 1 orange handle. Remove two screws from the end of the capping station. Disconnect all hoses from the bottom of the capping assembly (3 total) Remove capping station. Observe T shaped...
  12. Shrinkage

I do all window decals with a wet application, is this a known issue?
  13. Should I charge more than $29 for this sidewalk sign?

" # of Printheads: 312 (52 each cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan, light magenta)" FTFY
  14. Premier Colour

I have been using Premier Colour to order transparent 2-mil vinyl, and Bordeaux solvent ink for my Mutoh. The company has been awesome to deal with, and the Bordeaux ink has performed as good if not better than the OEM I was buying for less than half the price. NO issues in my DX5 head. ~JayCo...
  15. 60" Mutoh Falcon EcoSolvent outdoor or 54" 1304?

If you get the 1304, go ahead and get some new dampers and lines from ebay. Also buy some mutoh solvent cleaner and a solvent resistant syringe.
  16. New Mutoh 1324 not printing as good as my old 1204

I have noticed specifically that using any effect with fog enabled on these units really helps with banding and light inconsistent blacks.
  17. Mutoh 1204 horizontal banding / bad nozzle check

I agree with the previous post, if you have clogged nozzles per the test print the siphon the two lower transparent maintenance station hoses with a solvent resistant syringe. Additionally I have made modifications to avoid expensive sponges (40+$!) and pads (20+) by cutting down solvent...
  18. 1204 Printhead

There are no special adjustments on the 1204 head. Just removal of the cowling revealing a snap in printhead/dampers unit with 2 screws holding it in and 3 holding the printhead to the manifold with 3 more screws. Unplug 2 ribbons and voila. Also this DX5 printhead is terribly overpriced.
  19. VJ 1204 Service Manual Needed

I'd suggest you try resetting the card count in service mode under init counter... It's either up, left, down depressed and turning the machine on or left, down, right depressed while turning the machine on.
  20. FIRMWARE VEr. 1.22 neede MUTOH VJ-1204

Maybe. I run FW 1.15 and it allows me to boot into Service mode and clear the inti count for all the inks resetting the cards count reflecting 100%
