Sorry I meant "The aftermarket ink gunk up a lot faster than Roland OEM, most companies advertise their ink with a 12 months shelf life vs Roland that is 24 months." was too late to edit the original post.
Thanks again for everyone's help, it was super helpful. Im not 100% sure what is the...
I always have been told to only use OEM dampers, cap tops, ink. Not from a Roland dealer but from independent techs including the one that did my first head swap after I used aftermarket ink when I first started.
The aftermarket ink gunk up a lot faster than Roland OEM, most companies advertise...
ok awesome! thanks, thats good to know. I will keep on monitoring everything closely especially for my first few batches.
About the small fade along the edge of the print tests, have you ever seen anything like it? It was the same with the old head as well. It seems quite minor and prints are...
ok thanks. I think I will finish my current cartridges that are already on the machine but will make sure to get the new ones from a different source in the future.
Regarding my nozzle test and the head calibration feed tests.
I noticed when watching videos the blocks its printing are usually...
The last issue I ran, I bought new Roland OEM ink from a Roland authorized distributor. Some of the ink received is 2 years or more after the manufacturing date.
From what I recall, Roland says there's a 2 year shelf life for Eco sol max ink right? Would anyone know a link of an official...
ok big update here. I removed the old head and tried flushing it to see if it would help, however it looked pretty much the same and the magenta and yellow also had large missing spots. So the head was indeed the issue...
I then went ahead with the head replacement. After the replacement was...
Thanks for the info, good to know.
Just to see I got a quote for the installation from their own tech and since they do not have any, one has to travel from Montreal. For the work + travel charges etc, comes to almost 1500 additional.
Im already in for close to 5K with the previous oem parts...
Thanks for the tips, someone also mentioned that it looks like de-laminating and to try with a syringe to put solution through the head. If it comes out on the side then its de-lamination. I have been using aftermarket cleaning solution and apparently its not good for the head. I just ordered a...
I played around more with it last night, I did a flushing adjustment. Looks like it was set to -10 and the closest setting before it pushes on the carriage was -50.
I also tried to pull ink from below which worked fine so I guess the suction was good. Unfortunately results are still the same. I...
ok here's an update regarding this. I bought new dampers, captop, wipers etc. all OEM
I managed to install those bad boys, it was the first time I replaced dampers myself.
I followed the service manual, choke valve off, only difference is I clamped the ink line to limit the spill.
I did...
Yeah, often seems like it. Im going to order some dampers and see if it helps
I got a few estimates just for a new head, dampers and everything else needed and its almost the price of a newer machine.
Found a Mimaki CJV-150-75 with 30 days of use and brand new head on it. I never used a Mimaki...
yikes, I have not noticed any strike. I learned the hard way to never leave media on the machine, sometimes vinyl curls on the side and can strike the head during the automatic cleaning.
Since I replaced the head a few years ago I always make sure to remove any media loaded on the printer to be...
I dont understand what could be causing those "curls" in the print test. This isnt an alignment issue, the rest is fine.
Whatever it is, that's where the nozzles go missing after some time. Then they come back if I do a head soak...
I attached the full res print tests.
I checked the flushing adjustments after replacing the cap top and it was aligned properly. I can try to pull ink from the bottom to make sure of the seal.
Even when all the nozzles are missing, I did a CMYK yellow and magenta 12" square and still looks good at high quality which makes me...
There's still ink in the lines yes when the nozzles are gone. I already replaced the cap top and that didnt help. I havent tried to replace the dampers yet, I guess I could try that as well. I never replaced dampers in the past, hopefully its not too tricky.
Hi everyone, I really need to pick your brain regarding this issue.
I have a Roland VS-300 and the head was replaced a few years ago. Im running genuine ink, all original parts.
A few weeks ago, I was missing some yellow nozzles. Did an overnight head soak and they came back. Then on my next...
The rubber band did the trick for me, but I contacted Royal Sovereign and they also sent me (for free) thicker rubbers to put on the roll instead of the original ones. So that permanently fixed the issue and its much easier than using rubber band as they always rolled when I was trying to put...
Will try that, thanks for the tip. I also contacted RS and they will be sending me thicker rubber (under warranty) so it should work better than the rubber band. They tend to move when you put the roll on.
Awesome! I added a few rubber bands on the spindle and put the roll back and I think it did the trick. I was able to put more tension, the film peel off right at the bar now and no wrinkles!
Probably still need minor adjustments, but it's already working a lot better. I thought most of the...
ok thanks
I think I found the problem, the film roll seems to slip on top of the laminator roll insert (metal with rubber stripes). So no matter how much tension I set it at is ignored.
I am using a standard roll, is there any sort of adjustments that needs to be done on those aluminum...
