  1. What features on a router can't you do without

You'll absolutely want the mister if you're cutting aluminum. Not only improves cut quality but greatly increases tool life. You can also use it when cutting acrylic to help blow the chips away. And don't undervalue a good dust/chip collection system! We spend almost as much time cleaning up...
  2. Who Is Using PVC, And...

The "denser" PVC is known as Type 1 PVC, or some call it Solid Sintra. Most plastic distributors carry it. Makes for a great low cost alternative to acrylic, and it machines beautifully. Because it's solid, not expanded like "normal" PVC, it's much more dimensionally stable. Works great for...

  5. Mac Server setup

If all she needs is more storage you'd be better off just getting a NAS or external RAID array. Especially if all this is only for one user. No real need for a server when you simply need more storage. I run an XServe and OS X Server. I'm still back on 10.6 because 10.7 and 10.8 are a joke...
  6. Adobe Upgrades Ending

This is the same reason why I bought a physical copy of CS6. Intuit screws us over with all the paid updates that are mandatory. I don't need to add adobe to that list. Adobe emailed me a survey yesterday dealing with this. I answered I'd never use subscription based software and there was...
  7. Roland Color System in Flexi

Photoshop is a raster design program. You can't use spot colors in raster design without getting all crazy using alpha channels. Illustrator would be a more appropriate choice for working with spot color graphics.
  8. Any MAC repair smarties out there?

What version of OS X? If its a newer one you'll have a recovery partition you can boot to. If you can run disk utility and try repairing the permissions and see if that fixes it. If you don't have the recovery partition you'll need to find a CD to boot to so you can run disk utility.

I forgot to mention the crest is a cast aluminum plaque from Gemini.... This sign is going to last forever!
  18. Solid Wood Monument

Thanks for all the kind words guys (and gals)! I referred to this sign as the Ark during construction. It truly was a massive project. The cypress was a little more than 2k in raw material costs. It was all "furniture" grade cypress, I guess you could call that select. (I'm not too familiar...
  19. Solid Wood Monument

Here's something we don't do very often... work with WOOD. We recently finished constructing a new monument sign for a local church. We decided to build this one entirely out of solid cyprus with MDO faces and Aluminum letters. The posts are solid 10" x 10" cyprus. The top is made of...
