We've had really good luck printing on Arlon DPF 2400GLX and Oracal 5650 RA. We just recently switched to Oracal because it comes in 54". Printed on a VG3 using Roland colors. You do lose some reflectiveness in the dark colors though.
I might be biased but I like the LCR trailer. We did that back in 2010. They are probably the largest roofing company in our area, and they really just wanted to push the Standing Seam at the time.
We got a sheet from Home Depot once to replace the mirror on a boat's bathroom door. It was very nice stuff. I cut it with a jigsaw. (wouldn't recommend that lol)
We have not had good luck with printed air egress vinyl on polycarbonate (we don't use acrylic). We tried it on multiple signs, and every one of them had major bubbling issues no matter how long we let them outgas. 2 different vinyl manufacturers recommended baking the poly before installing...
I was told that also by our Poly distributor. We let it air out for a week before we installed vinyl after peeling the liner and still had the same problem. I really think it's an air release vinyl issue. (I don't believe the Briteline is air release). We did some tests on old scrap pieces...
From what I've been told by 3M and other vinyl manufacturers is that the plastic needs to be "baked" at a certain temp and for a certain length of time. I can't remember off hand but who's going to do that anyway? We've switched back to Arlon 4500 clear and have had no issues since. I believe...
Someone at Arlon recommended it to me years ago, and if you go on Arlon's website it is one of their interior wall wrap vinyls so it IS a wall product. We've been using it for years with no issues. We also been using it on basic vehicle graphics (not wraps) for years with 3170 laminate with no...
We normally use Arlon 4600 and 3420 matte lam with 1/2" overlap. We just did a 10'x80' wall with no issues. Arlon does have a list of recommended and not recommended paints that you should check out if you go that route.
We found that using white translucent vinyl with white poly was blocking to much light on fully wrapped faces no matter how many LED's we used. It could be an LED issue but I'm not sure about that. We switched to clear vinyl a few years ago and are much happier with the way the signs look at...
I know. We have a powder coat oven large enough but it's not something we want to be bothered with doing. We did some tests of our own. see attached The 3M is 40C-114R, the Arlon is 4500 clear.
This is the report 3M sent me when I questioned them about why our vinyl was bubbling so bad on poly. It basically says the same thing, bake at 250 for an hour. We have not had issues since moving away from air egress vinyl though.
We had issues with some 3M airfree clear vinyl bubbling on Lexan a while back. (ours showed up immediately once the sun hit the faces). 3M said we needed to bake the sheets before installing the vinyl. We've since changed to some Arlon clear wet install vinyl and have not had any problems since.
I would also recommend clicking the "Place alternated" check box in the "Clip and Tile" menu in Versaworks. It will auto rotate every other print in the batch. At least with our printer its a must. If not the colors at the seems don't match.
