I don't do much in the way of wraps, but in the beginning days of doing them it looks like when I didn't apply enough heat while doing it and afterwards. It looks like improper technique.

It's been my experience that when the tape doesn't come off the backer properly, it's time to change the blade. Many times as the blade gets older and you put more down pressure on the blade, the knife tends to cut into the backer a bit and makes the vinyl somewhat adhere itself to the edges...

Hinge it with 2 pieces of tape down the middle and slowly pull the backing away from one end and stop at the hinge, remove it and then continue to pull the backer away. All with a felt/soft squeegee.

I believe it's just the wrong vinyl being used and lousy technique applying it.

I'm not sure I could talk somebody from a painted wooden sign into a piece of cloth or flex face material. Moving a whole church committee will be tough under those circumstances.

It doesn't sound as if you're equipped physically or mentally to furnish this kind of a job. Find someone to farm it out to. Also, a 33' banner should have a hem and lots more grommets.

I generally steer away from these kind of jobs. Too many holes will be needed to make the sign secure and you can many times figure the owner will blame you for any leaks in the future.
