Good thought thanks. Another issue I realised today is that my install from original CD's was vs 9, whereas back in 2011 I had upgraded to 9.1. So even if this new install worked, none of my work files will open being created into later version. I will see if I have the 9.1 upgrade, but I doubt it.

sadly that has not been my experience, I had a computer techie try everything, the problem is the HASP dongle I use which is no longer supported. Looks like I shall have to upgrade.

Thanks for that, very encouraging, mind you...with windows 11, MS is getting heavy handed on privacy, eg. Trying to make it difficult to use a local account with no MS account and login. A techy mate managed to work around that and managed to achieve a privacy focused setup as much a possible...
