I think you can. I have a 1624x and I can. Just depends on how much space you have on top of the print head to allow you to pull them up out of the manifold.

I do not suggest it. I have been doing this for many years and I am very comfortable around the printhead. I still pull the head. you can not have any ink drop on the outside of head or cables.
