56" Big Squeegee laminator with "satin edge?"

I just picked up a brand new 56" Big Squeegee laminator with the new "satin" edge. The "satin" appears to be medical/surgical tape. Underneath it appears to be something like double sided foam tape with the liner still attached to one side. This seams to give the edge a little cushion. Is the surgical tape supposed to be the satin material or is this on the squeegee just to protect the edge for shipping purposes?

Also, forgot to ask...

I can't hear anything on the DVD that comes with the squeegee. Is it me or is there really no audio?

Case closed. I've heard from Dale and the surgical tape is actually the satin edge.

that was my guess, but I ordered mine just before that was an option.
