Add vinyl to plexi before routing?

Hello
I wonder if you can add vinyl to plexi before you start routing push-trough letters or do you have to put them on when you are done?
On this picture i found it looks like the vinyl is already there.

You got it. I always apply the vinyl first to the 1/2" acrylic and then do the profile rout. Sometimes we use transfer tape, sometimes we just apply it straight off the roll and use a squeege with a protective sleeve.

Thanks, but do you use any special kind of routing-bits like the diamond polishing bit for acrylic to get the best cut-surface, cause i guess u cant flame polish the edges when the vinyl is applied.

We've been using a 2 flute 1/4" down spiral (1" CL) for most all acrylic that is pre laminated with vinyl. The down spiral keeps the vinyl down and cuts clean at the edges. We don't flame polish, I tried a few pieces once and didn't have good success even without the vinyl.

I chuck up my bits so that just the cutter is exposed. Seems to keep the chatter down and makes a smooth edge by elimination of bit deflection. Unless we have the exact same machine and spindle, I'd guess that your speeds and feeds will be different. Probably experiment a little to dial yours in.
