agfajet sherpa 43i ink orientation!! help !!

hello, i recently purchased an old agfajet 6 colour machine with plenty of dye based ink.
After several strange prints, colours were reversed, not making sense. i opened the top cover to see what was happening. i noticed that the meal ink tubes were crossed over and seemed to have been reconnected to the wrong silicon lines.
using a syringe i was able to determine which ones i thought were wrong and began to rearrange them.
i spoke to an agfa technician who thought that the order of inks in the head would be the same as the cartridge order in the back.
K C M Y lc lm.
this seemed to make sense to me so i proceeded to rearrange the lines in the correct order..
now i think that this order may be wrong... the colours seem more mixed than before. with yellow in place of black ..
i am hoping that somebody with experience of these machines can tell meif the order is right or the correct order.

can you maybe print out a square of each color, then see what color they actually print out? then, if your cyan square is magenta, whichever line looks cyan should go to the head where the magenta line is going to?

just a thought, mind you...

dave - i work for a company that has iris 43 wides - which are the same as the agfa sherpa. i don't know why they cross the lines (you are referring to the solid metal tubes not the clear flexible ones right) but they are crossed in all of our machines too. I don't know why they did that but there must be a reason. sorry i'm not much more help.

Take alook at this picture. I'm pretty sure your printer is the same as Mutoh Falcon 46. It looks like one of the ink lines is out of order from the slots on the back to the head. Look like what ever ink is in slot 6 on the back is actually the third ink line from the left at the heads.

thanks everybody for the swift response.
it looks like i am not the only person who has altered these lines.. there are marks around them indicaing that someone has been here before.

this is going to be fun, ive already been through a few cartridges..
at the least it is a learning process for me. i have became quite good at syringing the inks through and dissasembling the printer.

i will continue testing, the test results are getting better now, might print a big image and see how it ends up.
the agfa guy seemed to think that the two heads were darks on left, lights on right.
i suppose a bit of trial and error wont do me any harm until someone can confirm the correct order for me.

Any suggestions on gettting dye based ink out of your hands.. swarfega doesnt seem to do anything

ok..
now i am going to retrace the lines back and put them in the order as shown in the above photo.
from my test prints this seems to make sense..
the new order will be K C lm M Y lc (1,2,6,3,4,5,)
i have to say apart from the mess i have enjoyed finding out how these things work.
I suppose i should be thankful that these are water based inks and cleaning up is relatively easy.
thanks again for all the help.
i will post the results today.
